I wouldn't vote for this man in 2012, but now I wouldn't be upset if he won again

I was surprised to see a Republican not just vote against that but give such a moving speech. Of course safe to say Rep. Kriesel is now likely to be teabagged and won't be running again anyway.

1. He seems like a very decent fellow. Really shone during that amendment nonsense.
Kind of a mystery why he chose that party. Might have been something he didn't think about - for instance, back in high school I assumed I was a Republican because my dad was.

2. Agree it was a moving speech & glad he bucked his party
I too wondered why he was in the Repub party so checked his voting record. With 1 other exception on key votes, he votes the hard GOP party line. So while I'm glad he, as he stated, was on the correct side on this marriage discrimination amendment, it's still just this one vote. (I think the other was a higher ed bill, and he voted w/the DFL on one motion but voted to defund on the final bill...read about it recently so should probably double-check...)

Would be great if he moved left, voted for Dayton's compromise, etc...

3. He may be a closet Libertarian
They're usually fine with personal issues such as sexuality or drugs and real knuckledraggers when it comes to anything that has to do with money.
