7. Statewide race will have much different outcome than in the 6th.
In late-February, a statewide survey of likely general election voters by The Mellman Group found Wetterling beating presumed GOP Senate nominee Mark Kennedy 47%-38% -- a nine-point margin.

11. I didn't read that before
That's great! She has name recognition. I know who Amy Klobuchar is, but haven't a clue about Ciresi. What am I missing?

I don't want to get ahead of the primary process, but she could do it. 47-38 :kick:

13. Ciresi successfully represented MN in tobacco litigation.
He is millionaire litigator at law firm of Robbins Kaplan Miller & Ciresi. He ran for Senate in 2000, loosing to Dayton in primary.
The DFL endorsed candidate was Jerry Janezich, who came in third.
Since both Patty and Amy have said they will abide by endorsement, they will not likely run against each other in primary. It remains to be seen whether Ciresi & others who can self-finance will jump in.

Here are results of 2000 DFL primary . . .

http://electionresults.sos.state.mn.us/20000912/Static/Statewide_R=A&P=A.htm

MARK DAYTON 178972 41.29
MIKE CIRESI 96874 22.35
JERRY R. JANEZICH 90074 20.78
REBECCA YANISCH 63289 14.60

12. A poll this far out doesn't mean anything
But she should be able to kick his ass! And the numbers are encouraging.

5. I thought I might bring the Wetterling Foundation link here
I posted this in Gen. Disc.:

http://www.jwf.org/

JWF's mission is to protect children from sexual exploitation and abduction through its two programs: prevention education and victims' assistance. In its early years, the Foundation's efforts focused primarily on providing direct support to victim families and secondarily to general community outreach and prevention education programming. Over time, in response to increasing community need, the Foundation shifted its programs to concentrate on the development of innovative, community-based prevention education initiatives. In addition to these important programs, JWF works with partner agencies to impact the development and passage of legislation on behalf of the safety and protection of children in Minnesota and nationally.

JWF holds adults responsible for the safety of children and therefore has created programs targeting adults to help build their capacity to better educate and guide children. The foundation recognizes the growing need to raise awareness of and provide specific tools to address the complex problem of child sexual exploitation and abduction. Through JWF's two programs, a number of educational tools and services are available to both the general public and victim families.

6. This is great!!
Now the only concern I have is whom ever get the nomination will be the only one on the ballet.

I dont want Amy, Patty vs Mark if you know what I'm saying. We need that seat.

The more the merrier to bring down Kennedy. He is firmly under bush/cheney wings.

What are they on?

I like both Kolbochar and Wetterling. Right now it is hard to see which one has a better chance against Kennedy, they are both capable canidiates.

And I also got a snail mail letter.
Says; she enjoyed talking to me, and thanks for my donation. She knows that she is the best candidate to defeat Mark Kennedy. Count on her to be a tenacious fighter for the real people of MN. Early support is very important in ensuring that she becomes the first MN woman elected to the US Senate.

as I been telling people I am a supporter, they alway question her knowledge.

23. Thanks for bringing that up
I wrote to Wetterling.com and asked them to put up some of the positions. I don't really know all of her positions either, but feel that she is honest and will represent the people. I have a feeling that what you are hearing may be the result of some early talking points coming out. I'm sure she has the knowledge and especially as much as Mark Kennedy. :dem:

24. Leftovers from the 2004 campaign
Edited on Sat May-14-05 10:46 AM by Dickie Flatt
When the focus of NRCC ads was her alleged lack of experience and failure to take a stand on anything.

The other focus was that Patty's a terrorist.

27. Thanks for posting this
I strongly believe Patty will do better than Amy in outstate Minnesota. She outpolled Kerry in the Republican 6th district. I think she would improve on Kerry's numbers outstate, and would be the stronger candidate. I think Amy is viewed as a Minneapolis lawyer by those outstate who even recognize her name. I know Amy has strong Twin Cities support, but I don't think it carries outstate.
