KC Star: McCaskill to run for Sen. Talent's seat!!!

Claire McCaskill, the Missouri auditor who lost the 2004 race for governor, will run for the U.S. Senate next year, Democrats said Monday.

Her campaign said she “will announce her plans for elective office” on Tuesday at the old McCaskill feed mill in Houston, Mo. The office that McCaskill is seeking was not specified in the news release.

But several state Democrats said McCaskill had finally made a choice to run for Senate against incumbent Republican Jim Talent after months of weighing that race against another run for governor in 2008...

One other clue: The announcement was paid for by a new political committee, “McCaskill for Missouri,” a group not registered with the Missouri Ethics Commission. The committee could be registered in only one other place – the Federal Election Commission in Washington.

She's our best bet by far for beating Talent! The still leans to Talent who's got a lot of cash and a powerful machine but McCaskill is savvy and isn't St.louis based which always helps state-wide.

I must say part of me would kinda like Gephardt to run, only now do i miss the guy :cry: ...strange I really couldn’t stand him a year or so ago.

That said Geppy would lose, McCaskill is by far our best candidate and while Talent has a slight edge, she'll be better placed to beat him than anyone IMHO.
