Blunt to Accept National Award

JEFFERSON CITY—Gov. Matt Blunt will travel to Boston with his family to accept recognition as one of the United States Junior Chamber’s (Jaycee’s) Ten Outstanding Young Americans.

"I am honored and humbled to accept this award," Blunt said. "I am proud to represent the people of Missouri who I believe deserve the highest accolades for their unwavering work ethic, compassion and faith."

According to the Jaycees, the Ten Outstanding Young Americans award recognizes those who exemplify the best attributes of the nation’s young people, aged 18 through 40. Considerations for the award include, among other things, achievements or contributions in personal improvement or accomplishment, social improvement to major contemporary problems, philanthropic contribution or voluntary service, politics or government service, legal reform, moral and religious leadership, and success in the influence of public opinion.

Some of the more than 600 young Americans honored include: John F. Kennedy, Gerald R. Ford, Anne Bancroft, Gale Sayers, Elvis Presley, Dan Quayle, Dr. Kathryn Sullivan, Larry Holmes, Bill Clinton, Jeanna Yeager, and Kaye Lani Rae Rafko-Wilson.

The Jaycees a not-for-profit organization that gives young people between the ages of 18 and 40 the tools they need to build the bridges of success for themselves in the areas of business development, management skills, individual training, community service, and international connections.

1. I PROUDLY belittle the Jaycee's for this.
Blunt has achieved nothing positive for anyone. He is a Bush clone, a thief, a scumbag, etc....

This is just pure crap that he is being recognized.

5. It's absolutely beyond me.
I've never seen my mother so mad as the day he announced they were cutting First Steps funding. She was PISSED. No one could calm her down.

8. Back when my dad owned a business
and I was a teenager, he got involved with the Jaycees and made me help with their projects. They seemed pretty inneffectual at the time.

11. I used to have a friend who was a Jaycee
and she was always talking about the parties they had. Sounded like they liked to party.

12. That's what I got out of it.
Make your kids do all the work while you party. Suited my dad quite well, though.

This pretty much proves that the award is meaningless.

:wtf:

How old are the Jaycees, exactly, to consider that very broad age group to be "young people".

LMAO
