All but one of the Senate Democrats - the exception is Ben Nelson of Nebraska - oppose the measure and, with moderate Republicans, are expected to block an up-or-down vote, killing the measure for the year.

2. Yep, Ben voted for it, but if he hadn't

the wingnuts in this state would have clobbered him over it.

He may not be the best Senator around, but he's still far better than Ricketts.

If this will help keep Ricketts from winning in November, so be it.

More interestingly, Hagel didn't vote on the measure at all. A little bit of a mixed victory for the Focus on the Family lobby.

Bush was in town - perfect reason to skip a vote. Didn't stop Lee Terry from running far, far away, though.
