NARAL, I'm sorry

My vote for Democrats this fall doesn't have a pro choice Candidate for Senate (Nelson) or Congress (Esch) so I can't take the pledge.

http://prochoiceaction.org/campaign/pledge_2006

Just today, Ohio's House Health Committee debated a bill that would criminalize abortion. Anti-choice lawmakers remain committed to pushing this bill through the House and Senate, which they control by wide margins, and want to send it to the desk of their anti-choice governor. If passed, Ohio will become the latest state to begin eliminating a woman's right to choose.

And just last week the Louisiana legislature passed a bill, intended to take effect if Roe v. Wade is overturned, that would outlaw abortion in Louisiana in nearly all circumstances.

These are difficult times for people like you and me who care so deeply about our privacy and freedom. But, if an abortion ban becomes a possibility in your state, I know NARAL Pro-Choice America can count on you to defend the right to choose with all your might.

But what about Ohio, Louisiana and South Dakota? What CAN you do? Here's the reality: As long as we have anti-choice politicians controlling every branch of our federal government, more and more states will be emboldened to eliminate a woman's right to choose – forever.

Your challenge – and mine, and every person who stands with us – is to fight the battle at the source by electing pro-choice candidates at every level across the country.

Please click here now to pledge to vote pro-choice on November 7.

By making this personal commitment, you are simply saying you're willing to take five minutes, five hours, or five days during the next six months to do your part to stop the bans and elect leaders who will protect our rights to privacy, freedom, and choice.

Please, I urge you to take a moment to sign up for the fight. The ability to change history is within each of us. The women of South Dakota, Louisiana, Ohio and the nation are counting on us. Just click here to find out more and take action.

Nancy Keenan
President

3. THen how do you explain Bob Kerrey or
Peter Hoagland? Both Pro-Choice, both elected multiple times.

There are Nebraskans who are able to see through the BS and will proudly vote Pro-Choice.

4. It goes like this...
They voted conservitive on a lot of other issues, however abortion is wrong plain and simple and I don't care if you are Democrat, Republican, Libertarian or an Independent. I am a rancher and I would never dream of aborting a calf.

You're a rancher, that makes me feel so much better about your qualifications to make an informed statement on a medical issue. I guess I'd better change my mind about women having brains.....

7. He won't be back.
I think he pretty much confirmed he was a troll when he compared women to cows.

Nelson receives sole endorsement by Nebraska Right to Life

BY ROBYNN TYSVER

WORLD-HERALD STAFF WRITER

Ben Nelson scored a big political coup Saturday. The Democratic senator, who is running for re-election, received the sole endorsement of Nebraska Right to Life.

In giving the exclusive nod to Nelson, the group followed its policy of rewarding incumbents who have worked on the front lines, said Denise Ashby, director of the group's political action committee.

Nelson is running against Republican Pete Ricketts, who has touted his anti-abortion credentials.

In making the endorsement, the anti-abortion group praised Nelson for voting for two U.S. Supreme Court judicial nominees - Justices John Roberts and Samuel Alito Jr.

Nebraska Right to Life is a coveted political endorsement for anti-abortion candidates. The group has significant political heft in Nebraska.

Ricketts had been endorsed in the primary but knew a separate endorsement would come for the general election. In the end, Ashby said, the committee chose to stick with its policy to reward incumbents.

Nelson's campaign portrayed the endorsement as "a major development for our campaign. It's a major blow to Ricketts," said Marcia Cady, Nelson's spokeswoman.

Jessica Moenning, a spokesman for Ricketts, said his campaign will still fight for the anti-abortion vote on Nov. 7.
