GOP complaints against legislator are dismissed

Senator White is a force with his strong oratory skills. Wonder why they picked on him?

Sarcasm.

GOP complaints against legislator are dismissed

LINCOLN — Complaints filed by the Republican Party against State Sen. Tom White of Omaha have been rejected by the Nebraska Accountability and Disclosure Commission.

A letter from the commission said the last complaint was dismissed Friday after an investigation turned up "no probable cause" to believe that White, a Democrat, had violated any state election laws.

The letter was released by White's office Monday. The lawmaker expressed relief, saying a finding otherwise would have hampered state senators' ability to communicate with their constituents.

"It sure feels good," he said. "I was pretty sure I had never done anything wrong."

In the complaints filed last year, Mark Quandahl, Nebraska GOP chairman, had questioned whether a Web site linked to White should be registered as a lobbying organization.

He also questioned whether White violated state law by using his legislative office to disseminate information from a survey that supported White's legislative agenda. The survey had asked about property taxes and tax cuts.

White said the site, NebraskaLeadershipProject.org, was set up with his money to communicate with constituents.

White said the Web site was left inactive during the commission's probe. He now plans to revitalize that site or use his campaign Web site to communicate with constituents.

1. It looks to me...
....that Republicans in this state are pushing more and more for the legislature to be an openly partisan body. They love grid lock, and they want it now!
