Heh, I don't expect you'll see that subject line too often on DU.

The New England Wilderness Act finally passed the house this AM (it had been passed by the Senate a while back) and pending the pretzeldent's signature NH will have a brand spanking new 23,700 acre Wilderness Area in the Wild River Valley and an additional 10,800 acres added to the existing Sandwich Range Wilderness.

Vermont gained approximately 47,000 acres in new Wilderness as well.

Thank you any and all who may have helped with this. It has been eight longs years since myself and several others began this campaign and it finally paid off. Never discount what a few determined individual can accomplish.

Maybe he's just putting a nice spin on things since he got the heave-ho last week, but still that's damn nice to hear.

"Bradley (R-NH)...joked on the floor that he will now have more time to explore the White Mountain National Forest more thoroughly."
