To my NH neighbors: How are you feeling about Kerry's chances?

I have made calls to NH and it seems that most of the undecideds are pro-Kerry. What are your thoughts?

1. Rockin good. I see more and more Kerry signs, canvassed sat.

was the 3rd group in three weekends canvassing the same folks, talked to one undecided, Not one Bushy has been by, she was very impressed with our dedication. Franklin Pierce poll has Kerry up by 9%, outside of margin of error, granted all polls are crap. Move n is working like mad, ACT ding the same, literally hundreds of folks knocking on doors in NH. Thomas Oliphant op ed piece in Globe today pointed out several examples of former and heavy hitting chimpy supporters throwing support publicly to Kerry. I think we are in good shape, BUT, still cannot rest until all the votes are cast.

and I live in the most Republican county in the state. There are a lot of Kerry signs, more Democratic signs than normal up here. There are 2 letters in the paper today from folks whose Kerry signs were stolen, and the picture on the front page is of a huge Kerry sign that was vandalized last night. This in a paper owned by conservatives. One of them confided to me last week that he's voting for Kerry. In fact, the coverage in the paper is really different this year than in elections past, when we had to fight to get Democrats any coverage at all.

I voted absentee yesterday, because I'm going to be coordinating a GOTV operation in Berlin, about 40 minutes north of me. I'll be up there for 4 days. The town clerk was telling me that she had a fight with the Secretary of State's office because they didn't want to send enough ballots. The SS office claimed that since only about 30% of the population votes, we didn't need all that many ballots. The thing is - we usually have about an 80% turnout, in our little (pop. 835) town.

I urge everyone who is doing GOTV on election day to vote in advance! You can just go to your town/city hall and fill out the absentee ballot, then you are free to work your ass off for democracy!

6. Someone please explain NH to me.

Why is it less "blue" than other New England states? And yet there was a sizable Nader vote in 2000, which would seem to indicate a leftward streak. :shrug:

7. It's a weird state

lots of transplanted Massachusetts people who thought Mass was too liberal. Old style Yankee Conservatives and Liberal Republicans.

I don't know where the Green voters come from-possibly the universities and the seacoast area.

I would get a New Hamsterite's view. I'm just a Masshole. ;-)

8. Parts of New Hampshire are heavily in the "D" column, Hanover for

one, with Dartmouth. We are about 25 minutes south of Hanover, and truly the Kerry signs are abundant with not nearly as many Bush signs as I would have thought. I am a transplant from another "red" state via Massachusetts and then here. Everyone I have talked to in New Hampshire who is not from "away", are voting Kerry, lifelong residents of this state. While we may be viewed as "hicks" by some, people here in New Hampshire know what is, and has been, going on for the last four years and most are not happy. They are very knowledgeable about what has been happening, and have been able to see through the propaganda spewing forth from the networks. I'm hoping for this "red" state to go "blue." :)
