Not protesting at Bookends today

I went to Ridgewood today for the protest, and I got to the bookstore and there was this cop there. He stopped me and asked me all sorts of questions, such as my name, my birthday, where I was from, etc. and asked to see my ID (and held it for 10 minutes). He asked me what I was doing there, and I said that there was going to be a small protest for Bill O'Reilly. He stated that we would probably need a permit for what we were doing, and asked if Democratic Underground (I told him I saw it on the site) was a terrorist website.

Although the cop was courteous and he believed that I was not there to break the law, I could smell a set-up and I hightailed it back to my dorm.

Chances are, he'd never heard of DU; I suspect he may have reacted to the "Underground." But still, this is an important issue.
