Anyone else here on DU getting Harrassing Calls from NC State Troopers Association...asking for $$$'

I'm getting calls every day from really "agressive, tough guy's" telling me my hubby pledged $15.00 to them. Hubby has been out of town and when he calls I don't ask him about whatever he pledged. BUT...these Troopers keep calling and the last one was so aggressive when he kept asking where my husband was and why hadn't he sent in his $15.00 pledge by April 22...I said to him..."My husband is on the road traveling and I haven't asked him about it."

I then related to the Trooper that I'd gotten FIVE CALLS in two DAYS from "Troopers of NC" asking for my husband and that I was sick of them calling. The Trooper then said..."No one has called you M'am but me and I'm calling to ask about the pledge you committed to." I got so freaked out I then countered with that five calls in two days about my husband's pledge when he was out of town was a violation of my privacy and I was sick of it...and the Trooper said..."Ma'm you are mistaken...we don't call people five times in two days. I then said to him: "You are calling me a liar?" He said Ma'm I'm just asking you to honor your pledge for the $15.00.

Have any of you gotten these harassing phone calls from NC State Troopers? Are we now in America required to pay PROTECTION MONEY to the TROOPERS so that we don't have our "Cars Marked" as targets on the roads?

I've been around a long time in America...I've never been Harassed by Troopers and I've lived on the East Coast from Connecticut, to NY to New Jersey and now in NC....

Is something weird going on, here? Anyone else being harassed by these Troopers? They were Agressive and Rude on all calls and I could picture them holding gun to my head as they dragged me out of my car on I-95 if I didn't comply.

1. Sounds like a phone scam to me, and not a new one.

The "State Trooper" phone scam is a fairly common one that
pops up SOMEWHERE every few years.

There's no such group as "Troopers of NC"; the official group
here in NC is called "North Carolina Troopers Association",
and they know their business well enough to ALWAYS be very
polite on the phone, at least in my experience.

2. I echo dicksteele, it sounds like a scam

And you certainly have the right to refuse.

I usually get calls for Eno fire dept and sometimes the Durham Police, but that's about it.

Consider leaving a complaint at Roy Cooper's office too. I'm sure you're not the only one.

3. They call me about once a week and I tell them to take my

name off their list about twice a week. Why? Because they won't listen the first damn time. :mad: I don't think they are a legitimate organization. I'd call the REAL NC State Troopers and let them know about you being harassed that way though, because that sounds like a shakedown and it is something the REAL state troopers would not want done in their name.

4. First off, they are NOT troopers

ask them to identify themselves as such, report them to the local police, this is a scam, banking on the idiocy of the average idiot.

don't recognize the number, I don't answer the phone.
