1. I think they want to count the provisional ballots first.
Does anyone know how long this will take?

3. If they are doing provisionals and absentees, it will take a while.
Sigh. I am waiting, too. I believe in the end Obama will prevail, but I want to know for sure.

State: Final ballots may expand Obama's lead in N.C.
2008 Election Day

Posted: Today at 11:39 a.m.

RALEIGH, N.C. — North Carolina's election chief says he wouldn't be surprised to see Barack Obama's slim lead in the state increase as counties count thousands of provisional ballots.

State Board of Elections director Gary Bartlett estimated Wednesday there are about 40,000 provisional ballots, cast by voters whose eligibility to vote must be confirmed.

He said history suggests that about 65 percent of those ballots will be eligible and they are likely to break toward the winner in numbers similar to that of Election Day.

Unofficial election results show Obama with 12,106 votes more than Republican rival John McCain. Obama has already won the race to the White House, even without North Carolina's final results.

12. NYT totals
When I checked this morning, the New York Times said 100 percent of the ballots are in. They have not changed that info. I would think that meant the ballots were in and counted, not just "in".

13. Based on the WRAL news reports
They are STILL counting. First they have to see determine if the ballot is valid and voter could vote. Most say that it should increase the number of votes for Obama. I sure hope so.
