So I'm phone banking tonight and called an 80 year old man
who told me he was voting for Kerry this year. "And you know what?" he asked. "I'm a registered republican." I asked what Bush had done to cause him to vote democratic. "You don't have enough pencils or paper for me to start listing the things. We have to get him out of there" was his final answer. I think I'm in love with the guy.

1. That's great!
I was calling voters who participated in the Michigan caucus today.

Good fertile ground, right?

Sure, until I ran into the one nut who voted for Lyndon LaRouche! ;)

2. Thinking Americans of all persuasions agree
Bush has got to go ...

"Somewhere in Texas, a village is missing its idiot."

3. As long as you're old enough to have a functioning brain
. . .you're old enough to see the obvious choice voters have this year. (Unlike my 94-year-old father-in-law, whose brain stopped working in 1987 and listens to Rush every day like he was Jesus on the mount.)

4. Sorry to hear about your father in law
But if he listens to Rush, he probably ain't spending a whole lot of time thinking.

5. I had a sweet old lady
Who told me she was voting for kerry, and when I told her I was working with the campaign, she thanked me repeatedly. Told me she was too old to get out and do much, but she sure was going to vote.

It feels so good to get calls like that.

6. No, no, I want him, CMD!
I haven't spoken to anyone that pleasant during my current phone bank career. My highlight so far has been a fellow who told me he's a "union guy" and no one in their right mind who's a union member would vote for Shrub.

He even offered to display a yard sign and wanted another for his neighbor.

Not quite love, but I'll take it.
