What did you do today to elect a Democrat?
(again... I stole this from WCGreen..)

I know we are all doing a lot - thought this post might be a chance to encourage and support each other. I know it can be frustrating at times.

So.... today..
I finished my letter to the editor and sent it in
Helped another person with their letter
Delivered 5 applications for absentee ballots
Put an advertisement in the paper for our upcoming Ox Roast
Did a couple things to set up a phone bank for tomorrow
oh - and I'm gonna e-mail the Cordray campaign about a media opportunity

1. Phone banking for the Brown campaign this evening
Little Strickland support thrown in there as well as local Dems.

3. great job!
I did phone banking Saturday and have been making some calls from home. Our script is also Brown/Strickland/local. I've been surprised in my Republican County. We are calling independents and while most calls end with the answering machine, the ones that did connect are leaning dem. Which is great for my county!

5. This county is Democratic but the communities we are working
have previously been Republican.
Between the calls I made Saturday and tonight, I had 5 that refused and 2 that hung up. That doesn't necessarily mean anything. Of the ones that answered it was 10:1 in favor of Brown and Strickland. I only received one who would not tell me what they were voting for Senator but were voting for Blackwell. My wife said I should have asked them what the hell would make anyone vote for Blackwell. She is curious what is wrong with anyone who would vote for a criminal like him.

6. I wonder the same thing.
but.... there are those that just vote R no matter what.

Also, another thing to consider... Ken Blackwell has been a State-wide office holder for a while and has been making personal appearances as is his #2 guy - Monty Lobb (I think that's his name). anyway, there are probably some people that have a personal connection... I know that Monty guy came to MANY different "non-partisan" events in our county, handed out Blackwell's "uncommon sense" and made personal connections....

2. Looked up the phone #s for a list of
hard core Democrats then phoned them to encourage Early Voting at the BoE on a paper ballot. Most of the people I spoke with agreed with the idea.

I don't have a cell phone (I will probably be the last person to get one), but the idea of using one while standing in line at the grocery store or the bank and discussing important political issues is a great idea. I read about this idea here on DU. There is research out now that people are really listening to 'word of mouth' advertising...not what is on TV. So for those of you with cell phones, talk up the Dems plans to change the course of Iraq, the job situation, health care, and the environment....or whatever is important to you.

Maybe I could a fake or toy cell phone! lol.

4. good idea femrap.
Or, just take a dem friend and talk about it. Before my Saturday phone bank, I wore my Sherrod shirt and took copies of the script to a local shop to get copies made. I didn't tell them what I was doing later, but the guy behind the counter knew, smiled and wished me luck when I left. The atmosphere is soooo much better for Dems right now.

call campaign staff to encourage them
