Sunday drive to Piqua and Lockington...Miami County....yardsigns
Went to take a return trip to the Piqua Historical area...an old farmstead, indian musuem, and restored canal boat ride, and also a walk at this old second-growth forest preserve east of Piqua.

Now make no mistake about this, Miami County is the quintessential midwestern landscape...cornfields, soybeans, woodlots, small towns....

...and a solid GOP area. Bush will carry this county no doubt about it.

But what did suprise me was the number of Kerry/Edwards signs I saw.

In Piqua proper, of course, but also out in the country. So, even tho this is a GOP area, the Democrats are showing the flag and putting up yardsigns demonstrating their support.

1. There are probably still some union people in Piqua.
It used to have more heavy and light industry, and therefore more union folks, but I imagine there still are plenty. Probably plenty of union retirees, as well, hanging around out there in those checkerboard fields.
