Ohio Tax credits for campaign donations
I just wanted to remind my fellow Ohioans about the Ohio Income Tax credit (not deduction!) for donations to STATE (and only state) campaign contributions.

It works like this: if you are going to owe any Ohio State income tax, you can get a dollar for dollar tax credit for donations to STATE political campaigns, up to $50 per single person or $100 for married couples who file jointly.

This covers ONLY the Ohio Constitutional offices (Governor, Lt. Governor, Attorney General, Auditor, Treasurer and Secretary of State) and campaigns for the Ohio General Assembly.

So, if you are pretty sure that you will owe more than fifty bucks in Ohio State Income taxes (or over $100 per couple)now is the time to make a contribution and it will reduce your tax bill by that amount when you file your 2005 Ohio State Income Taxes.

I would recommend donating to either the Ohio House Democrats or the Ohio Senate Democrats both of whom have online credit card systems.

Heck, if you pay Ohio Income taxes, why not? It's free money -- IF you have taxes that you will owe in April.

2. & if you have a fav candidate, you can contribute in 2005 &2006
and take double the tax credits. Now, somebody tell me who to endorse for Governor. I am still on the fence.

4. That's the great thing--
support the caucuses this year, individual candidates next year.

After all- it's free money (if you will owe taxes)

5. Strickland
Avenger -- I'm firmly behind Ted. I have nothing bad to say about Mike Coleman, but I'm convinced that Strickland is the guy who can win. The people who have been with him, love him. (His Clermont County coordinator, as I understand it, was his coordinator in his first campaign in 1976.) He had NO OPPONENT in his last election.

I've been to several of his events, and I am very impressed with him as a person and as a campaigner. He's more 'conservative' than many Dems on some issues (e.g., guns) but, frankly, that's what I think is required to take back Ohio.

Ted can carry a huge portion of rural southern and eastern Ohio (his previous and/or current District) that one might otherwise expect to vote red. And, likely to be important to "value voters," Ted is an ordained Methodist minister.

What we need is to make sure he gets known on the North Coast.
