James Carville Predicts Harold Ford Jr. Will Win Senate Seat In 2006
http://haroldfordjr2006.blogspot.com/

It appears there is now another well respected political expert that believes Congressman Harold Ford will win the Senate seat here in Tennessee in 2006.

This is from the Brad Blog (http://www.bradblog.com/archives/00002205.htm):

"James Carville appeared on NBC's Today Show to give his political predictions for 2006.

The Senate will make history by doubling the number of African-American senators. Senator Frist has said that he will not run for a third term. Carville predicts that Representative Harold Ford Jr. (D-TN) will win Frist's vacated Senate seat."

Once again, this is only more evidence that Harold Ford Jr. is the front runner in this race and that he has the momentum on his side.

When someone of the stature of James Carville predicts a win for Harold Ford Jr., you can take it to the bank.

Also, more good news regarding Congressman Ford's Senate race from the Associated Press.

"Despite being New York's less-famous senator, Charles Schumer stayed busy in 2005, keeping a hand _ or quote _ in almost every major congressional battle. Now he is out to prove he has the strategy to elect Senate Democrats and maybe wrest control from the Republicans.

Schumer, the head of Senate Democrats' campaign efforts, said Tuesday he is focusing on seven states where he believes they can take GOP- held Senate seats in 2006: Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Missouri, Montana, Tennessee, and Arizona.

"If the stars align right we could actually take back the Senate," Schumer said."

"But one political observer said Schumer's list of seven target states in 2006 may not be as far-fetched as his detractors claim.

Bruce Oppenheimer, a Vanderbilt University politics professor, said the conditions in Tennessee may be ripe for a Democratic win.

"People think this race would lean Republican, all other things being equal. But it's in play," said Oppenheimer. "For the Democrats, it's certainly doable."

Folks, this race is winnable. In fact, Ford is the front runner with the momentum right now!

Lets get this brilliant young man elected to the U.S. Senate next year!

1. James Carville lost my respect when he hired himself out
to "help" Chavez' opponent with the election in Venezuela.

2. Not a big Carville fan....
but I'll settle for Ford and/or Kurita. I'd like to see one Dem in '06 and the other in '08 sent to the Senate.

Both are too moderate for my tastes, but that's the only way we'll get a dem elected in TN.

3. Same here
I'm probably voting for Ford now even though he's not as progressive as me and I'm not a huge fan like I am of other senators and stuff. I'm willing to give him a chance and I've read he's moving away from corporations and he showed how he does listen to people when he told why he voted against CAFTA and everything. And he signed Conyers petition (the first fifty people) and Kurita hasn't fully come out against Iraq and I'm not sure how she would do with a vote like Murtha's resolution or something. I have a better idea with Ford and I think he'd vote in favor of Murtha's resolution.

4. Anyone else like Kurita?
:hi: I do! I think shes got the background, the look, and definitely the cajones to beat the piss out of whatever GOP sucker gets the nomination. Im from a southern state and I know its hard for a woman to get elected to higher office, but I honestly feel she 1) is a better progressive and 2) has a better chance of winning.

Just my $0.02. Dont listen to me anyway...Im from Virginia ;)

He signed Conyers petition on the DSM (was one of the first fifty people), voted against CAFTA, doing the house reform rules and he supports Murtha. I like Kurita but I disagree with her on her stance on Iraq. I listened to her on a local Nashville show and someone asked her about the Downing Street Minutes reports and she said they shouldn't be looked into because it would "make the troops look bad." So anyone who isn't serious about Iraq and all that happened I'm not going to vote for since Iraq is my number one issue. I do agree with her on all her other stances but she and Ford share those. Is Alexander's seat not up this time? When is his seat up?

7. I like Kurita a lot. This woman understands! Ford is very young and
he could use a little more seasoning, I think.

However, I'll vote for Kurita in the Primary and whichever wins that will be the one I vote for in the General Election.

Kurita currently represents the state senate district that includes many people from Fort Campbell. She has lost constituents in Iraq. She's very supportive of the troops and reflects their wishes.

She's a former nurse and really understands medical and family issues.

8. I'm voting for Kurita. Unfortunately, Ford will probably win....
...and then, I'll vote for Ford, simply because I'd vote for a ham sandwich, before I'd vote for a Republican.

9. That's exactly what I thought about her when I met her last April!
She took the time to spend about 20-30 mins. just talking over issues, etc., at the TN Federation of Democratic Women's Convention. She listens, and she's dynamite in a small package!
