Jim Hightower at DemocracyFest on June 18!
Edited on Tue Mar-15-05 12:08 PM by crispini
Got this email from DFT. I'm excited!

With a little over three months to go before DemocracyFest, our team is working at full speed to get speakers and entertainers lined up. Last week, we got the news that Jim Hightower will be joining our panel on "Veterans of Texas Political Wars" and will also be at the Saturday night event at Stubb's. And for those of you plugged into the blogsphere, we're excited to announce that Jerome Armstrong (www.MyDD.com) and Markos Zuniga (www.DailyKos.com) will be joining us to talk about alternative/progressive media. If you haven't looked at the program lately, check it out! www.democracyfortexas.org/Demfest/program.html

We also have information up now about housing. We strongly suggest you make a reservation now, particularly if you're interested in staying at the headquarters hotel or want to camp. www.democracyfortexas.org/Demfest/lodging.html. Information on staying with a local volunteer will be available next week.

Over 550 people have registered for DemFest. Remember—space is limited. A word to the wise: Merely registering does not assure you a place. You must pay for your registration in order to ensure a spot. If you haven't paid, please do it today! If you want to pay online, go back to the register page and complete the whole process. If you want to pay by check, send your check for $57.00, payable to "Democracy for Texas," to P.O. Box 300981, Austin, TX 78703.

Questions? Drop us a note at info@democracyfortexas.org. See you in Austin!

Your DFT steering committee—

Marla Camp, Glen Maxey, Teri Sperry, and Fran Vincent

1. Jim is always great but I love the bloggers coming too
I just forwarded that along to many more of my friends that read DailyKOS, who I think would come to DemFest just for that track on blogging, and to meet Markos and Jerome.

By the way is Lupe Valdez on the program track? Is that what you meant? If that's the case that is great news too.

3. Ah now I see it
• Turning Red States Blue: Democracy for Texas’ political director, former State Rep. Glen Maxey will be joined by Colorado field expert Sandra Ramos, and newly-elected Dallas County sheriff Lupe Valdez.

The Colorado field expert Sandra Ramos will be interesting to hear as well.
