1. good idea
I think it would be a wise choice. Fort Worth is a lot more conservative than Dallas is, and it would help the party out to bring attention to the Dems in the area.

2. Cool.
That'll be nice for those of us that may not get picked as delegates this year but still want to show up and offer support to everyone!

3. Cool that means party at your house
Just kidding. Hopefully we will have many DUers at the state convention once again, and continue our networking across the state.

5. Ha ha.
Do you know how far our house is from Fort Worth? The other side of the Metroplex. Like 70 miles or something, at least.

Let's hit up Frogtutor or Blue Collar or one of those westies for the party zone.

7. I'm more than willing to provide a hospitality suite
:-)...

Seriously though, those coming from out of town should look to meet up with the locals. It can get pricey in a hurry around here. I'm glad we're doing it in Fort Worth this time although I enjoyed visiting Houston and El Paso.

Anyone remember where we were before that? LOL

11. I guess I'll have to work really hard to get elected to be a delegate
So we can all come party at BlueCollar's home. Hey BlueCollar we can all bring a little something to the party. Let's make it a BYOE -bring your own everything you need to have fun.

The convention in Houston was my first one, so other than El Paso, which I knew about but did not attend, I don't know where the prior conventions were held.

Lets just call these the AMB Conventions (After Molly Beth)

13. I remember being a delegate
but not much else...LOL...I think we were in Dallas in 92 and Austin rings a bell...vaguely....

Anyway, plenty of time to see what we can work out. Being in the Summer helps.

15. I was a senatorial delegate last year...
Edited on Wed Apr-13-05 10:51 PM by derby378
...but my wife became a state delegate. And neither of us ever even served as a precinct delegate before, so I'm really proud of her.

At the senatorial convention level, it got a bit cantankerous. I managed my wife's campaign for state delegate alternate for our precinct, and she was head-to-head against this snooty woman who spent a few years in Illinois and then came back to Dallas thinking she was just gonna take over. Wrong. ginbarn beat her by one vote in the vote for delegate alternate, and she was going to Houston. Woo-hoo!!

On edit: ginbarn was promoted to full delegate in Houston when a friend of hers from a neighboring precinct had to bail out early, so she "inherited" her friend's precinct.

I am looking forward to this. Great chance to network and I'm sure there will be MANY get togethers and associated events (authors, speakers, etc.).

10. Anyone can go to the events and sit in on the caucusing,
but you have to be a delegate to vote.

I went to my first one in Houston last summer, and had a blast!

I had an old timer tell me she'd NEVER seen so many democrats attending in her LIFE.

And considering how many more voters we got out of the woodwork this last election, the delegate counts should go WAY up. So it'll be easier to get picked this time. :-)
