Progressive Patriot Award - Vote for John Courage -URGENT
John Courage, running in Congressional District 21 against Lamar Smith, was selected as one of 11 finalists for the "Progressive Patriot" award from the Progressive Patriots Fund, which is Senator Russ Feingold's PAC. The winner of the award receives a $5,000 contribution as well as name recognition nationally, and additional backing in other crucial endorsement campaigns. It would be very helpful to bring this endorsement and much needed money to our Texas campaign. This board was a big help when we won the Democracy for American Grassroots All-Star endorsement. And we need your help again. Come on Texas lets get behind John for this endorsement!

Voting closes at midnight (Central Time) on December 14th.

Go to the Progressive Patriot Fund voting site and vote for John Courage: http://www.progressivepatriotsfund.com/vote Each user can only vote once, and must have a valid email address. You do not have to live in CD21 to vote. So feel free to send this to your family and friends. Lets show them our big Texas progressive roots!

P.S.
Yes, Nick Lamspon is on the ballot as well. I like Nick Lampson too, and I am supporting him as well in CD22. This endorsement means a lot more to John than Nick. Nick is getting a lot of help in CD22 already, and he's doing a fabulous job at raising money. Lets give John more of a fighting chance with the national funders, so that we can have them both go to Congress.

2. Thank you acmejack!
I was at the State Party headquarters for the better part of the day and saw lots of enthusiasm. We have some great candidates filing and we need to support them in every way we can.

13. This needs a Texas size kick
Right now we have a tie. John Courage and Colleen Rowley are tied.
http://www.progressivepatriotsfund.com/content/281

Why should you vote for John over Colleen, who is also a great candidate. Because John is a Texan. We need to support our Texas candidates and make sure our Texas Congressional delegation becomes more Democratic. We have a real opportunity in CD21 to beat Lamar Smith. This district is now only 5 counties (down from 14 in 2002) and at least half of the vote will come out of Travis County (Austin). Travis is the bluest county in Texas.

Here is some of the bio on the PAC fund vote
http://www.progressivepatriotsfund.com/content/282
John is a Public School teacher. He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam Era. He was elected to and appointed to public offices in Texas. He is a long time Democratic Party activist and member or supporter of Democracy for America, MoveOn, Common Cause, People for the American Way, Planned Parenthood, NAACP, ACLU and Human Rights Campaign. John is married with four children

Come on Texas give us a boot and get your family and friends to vote for John as well. We can win this vote!

Take a look at this new blog. Where in the world is Lamar Smith?
http://cd21texas.blogspot.com/

Seems he may not even live in his district.

14. Voted in the wee hours this morning.
John Courage: The state or quality of mind or spirit that enables one to face danger, fear, or vicissitudes with self-possession, confidence, and resolution; bravery.

The definition says it all, I hope John all the best!

Good Luck JC.

you are so right we do have to stick together, and become the new choir for the Texas Blues. Yes-Yes

Maybe JC could use the definition in my previous post as part of his campaign slogan.

20. Thank you babylonsister!
We're tied again this morning with Colleen Rowley. She had taken the lead Wednesday and now we're back even. I don't know what Colleen Rowley's district looks like, but I know we can win CD21. I wish Rowley's campaign the best. But we're going to win!

22. Hey flamin lib
Thanks for kicking my thread. The voting is still open and we sent out a massive e-mailing in Travis on Friday. We got a big bump from that. We're now ahead. John has 21% of the vote to Colleen Rowley who has 17% of the vote. Colleen is our closest competitor. The voting closes on Wednesday the 14th.

Results to date here
http://progressivepatriotsfund.com/content/281

We're still working this everywhere we can. Feel free to recommend this to your friends too. Anyone with a valid e-mail address can vote and since we're way ahead of Nick; we Texans should stick together and vote for own of our own. I wish Colleen Rowley the best. It's not a question of competing with her, it's more a question of making sure we win because we need to. This endorsement is another other crucial step for us to get on the D.C. A-list.

Tell David we're behind him too. I understand from John that the Democratic Veterans are making a trip to D.C. in January and I'm sure the two of them will meet there.

23. Homestretch kick!
It's getting very close again. John and Colleen have about a 3 point spread. We're ahead but we can't take anything for granted. Please vote today if you haven't and send it along to your friends and family.

Texas needs a new Congressman in CD21. Well we need them in a lot of districts, but with your help we can win CD21 starting right now.

Thanks

Sonia
