Texas Gubernatorial Poll
Meh, I lost my star and can't put up a DU poll until Monday at the earliest, so here's a link to my online poll at Daily Kos:

http://pdiddie.dailykos.com/storyonly/2005/12/17/15146/514

With Bob Gammage's announcement that he will enter the race for the Democratic nomination for Governor of Texas, it's time to poll Texas Kossacks (only, please).

Here are the three announced candidates:

Felix Alvarado

Chris Bell

Bob Gammage

Who do you like? It would also be interesting to know if any are planning on holding out for Kinky Friedman. So your options are: Alvarado, Bell, Gammage, or ...

"Not voting in the primary because I'm signing Kinky's petition"

and "Other".

(If anyone wants to do a DU poll thread before next week, go for it.)

2. Kinky. We should vote for him to teach Texas a lesson
They didnt learn from Jesse Ventura.
They didnt learn from Bush
Or Bush in Washington
Or Perry.

You have to use your mind before you use your heart in voting.

Kinky would get absolutely nothing done which some people (who are not thinking) think is OK. He would, and has, made Texas a laughing stock for America.

Yea. He may be a cute sideshow, but the election of a Governor is important business. It should not be a sideshow. We got too many of them already.

BUT.......maybe that is exactly what we need. Four years of an ineffective Governor who would get absolutely nothing done, which would starve funds from our schools, our government, our roads, our services, and then watch everyone bitch and moan for four years.

Yep. from this poll 30% haven't learned their lesson.

Yet.

3. paluxy 145 made an interesting comment on your post
...at Dailykos that I think merits a mention here:
http://pdiddie.dailykos.com/story/2005/12/17/15146/514
“I think pretty much everyone around here has come to realize there really are important differences between the Democrats and Republicans (unless your name is Joe Lieberman). So I don't waste my time nitpicking over my principles vs theirs and whether they mesh completely - in times like these -when most Republicans are so toxic- I feel we must support the party.” By paluxy 1945

I’m not throwing my principles out the window by agreeing with the above. What would it say about my principles if, by supporting a fringe candidacy, I allow a Republican to keep a seat in his or her current office?

We’d better find and support candidates who can win next year or we will continue this spiral down the proverbial toilet.

Poll as of this morning...Kinky’s pulled slightly ahead.

Who will you vote for in the March primary?
Felix Alvarado - 2 votes - 4 %
Chris Bell - 15 votes - 30 %
Bob Gammage - 15 votes - 30 %
Not voting -- signing Kinky's petition 16 votes - 32 %
Other - 1 vote - 2 %
49 Total Votes

.............Thanks PDittie for all you do!:hi:

4. I agree. Funny, one of the posters mentions voting for Anderson...
as the end of their flirtation with a third party. As a young lass, I talked my MOTHER into voting for Anderson (since I was under 18 at the time) and was heartbroken when he didn't win. And that was the end of MY flirtation with a third party. :D

8. Back when I was just a lad
I voted Raza Unida in some statewide races. Of course that was back when the repubs had about as much chance of winning as the RUP did!

5. I think Kinky's support is
880 miles wide (that's the length of I-10 from Orange to El Paso, for you trivia buffs) and an inch deep.

And there's probably a few non-Texans voting in the poll. But it is interesting to see Kinky tracking evenly with the two legitimate (arrepentido, Senor Alvarado) candidates.
