Is Van Os visiting NE Texas anytime soon?
By NE Texas, I do NOT mean the metroplex. I mean Bowie, Red River, Lamar, Fannin, Delta, or Titus counties... ? Just wondering - I would like to hear him speak, even though I don't have any extra cash to donate. I will take a bumper sticker, though.

1. I'll ask him when I see him this weekend, Stella
If there is a Democratic club in Texarkana or one of the counties that has a meeting scheduled, let me or his campaign, through the website, know.

I know that he is frequently in East Texas. He was in Tyler last week -- his parents live there.

On a related campaign note, Bob Gammage and Ben Grant and Fred Head will be in Texarkana next Tuesday, January 10:

Texas Democrat for Governor Bob Gammage today announced the “Set the Record Straight” Tour, a four-day, 14-stop airplane whistle stop tour of Texas, to officially kick-off the 2006 campaign. Gammage will be joined on the tour by Democratic candidate for Lieutenant Governor Ben Grant, and Democratic candidate for Comptroller Fred Head.

The tour will begin in Sugar Land – Tom DeLay’s current district and the district Gammage represented in the U.S. Congress – on January 9th, wind through East and Central Texas and finish up in Austin with a wrap-up press conference in Austin on January 12th.

MONDAY – January 9th

9:00 am SUGAR LAND Press Conference: Sugar Land Municipal Airport

11:00 am BEAUMONT Press conference

1:00 pm LUFKIN Press Conference: Angelina Co. Airport KLFK

3:15 pm LONGVIEW Press Conference

TUESDAY – January 10th

8:30 am TYLER Press Conference

11:00 am TEXARKANA Press Conference

2. Well, are they going to be doing anything other than press conferences?
I'm looking forward to seeing Gammage and making up my mind about who I'm going to vote for in the primary.

3. That's a pretty tight schedule, so
I would guess a short stump speech from the three and about half an hour or so of Q&A with the local media is about all you can expect.

4. That's my native ground.
I grew up in Kilgore. My family often camped and fished at Lake o' the Pines and Caddo Lake. Been all over the region and know it well - Sulphur Springs to Paris to Mt. Vernon to Mt. Pleasant to Atlanta to Texarkana to Daingerfield to Pittsburg to Jefferson to Lindale to Marshall to Longview and so forth and so on. Those great green rolling woodlands are in my soul and I go there as often as I can for a recharge. I made several appearances in NE Texas during my 2004 campaign for TX Supreme Court and the region was one of my strongest areas in the election results.

Four of my main contacts for the region are my campaign Steering Committee members Norma Narramore of Winfield, who is Democratic County Chair for Titus County and SDEC member for Senate District 1; Steve Richardson of Longview, who is County Chair for Gregg County; Juneau Embry of Longview, who is webmaster for Democrats United of Gregg County; and Marion Butts of Clarksville, who is County Chair for Red River County -- all grassroots Fighting Democrats. We've set up a definite confirmed trip to Mt. Pleasant, Clarksville, and Texarkana in the first week of April, and we're working on scheduling something sooner also, which I expect to happen.

If you'll email justice@vanosfortexasag.com and ask to receive our weekly campaign newsletters, you'll be added to the list and will get news of my schedule on a regular basis. The schedule is also posted on my website at www.vanosfortexasag.com.

Thank you for asking.

5. Great info, thanks!
Clarksville, eh? Very impressed. Clarksville not on the radar of any other candidates, I would dare to guess.

6. Red River County is Democrat country.
But I would go to every town in Texas if I had 10 years to stump.

7. One of my great-grandfathers was an old time Red River county Democrat
and state senator for ten years. I know he must be spinning in his grave over the current state of Texas politics. Keep fighting the good fight! There are millions of us that are still real Democrats!
