94 deaths of homeless people highlight lack of care
If you're homeless in King County, you'll likely live about 30 fewer years than other people in the country.

You're also about eight times more likely to commit suicide, compared with U.S. averages. You're about twice as likely to die in an accident. And you have 13 times the chance of being murdered.

That's based on a report on homeless deaths released Monday by Public Health — Seattle & King County, which studied nearly 100 King County residents who died without a home last year.

"It's very disturbing," said Janna Wilson, director of the county's Healthcare for the Homeless Network. "These people have a lot of barriers to early and preventive health care."

Thats what makes Wasington and Seattle unique. The millionairs club down on Western and Wall since 1926 is a standing example of just how much people care here in Washington.

And the media - does indeed cover the homeless situation here. You will find that the local news and the paper PI/Times puts it out there.

And thats where the donations come from when the people see it for what it is.Although people donate all year -,not just threw the givingness spirt of the holidays.

The cold truth may be somewhat unbearable to many- but there are enough people around that- see threw things - see threw to the truth-and such people making there presents known downtown - make just a little bit of difference.
The cold truth is indeed cold.
And don,t underestimate our cops either along that line- They are known to help- and care.If you have ever got down to real talk, down that subject line.

If you were around in the eightys -you might know something.
It,s not like L.A. in California-take a look at the death toll there, or NYC for that matter-or Chicago Ill. and on and so on. Places where a meal for the homeless may be few and far between.Places where work is not easily obtainable.

Where it is about chronic alcoholism -that is a greater problem.
But the fact remains that people here care, .

Take a look down there on Western and Wall downtown- all threw the holidays, the missions too, you will find just how it is people care.

5. i'd like to build the world a home....

all i can do is give ten bucks to the old lady at the metro stop... and worry that i am being racist by giving to the nice white lady when there are old black folks in the street who need it just as much....

sigh.

7. Oh God!! Does this hit "home" right now! Thanks so much for this...
It's going to be forwarded to some clergy I know.....

However, I notice that Tuberculosis isn't on that list... that is a big issue with homeless populations right now. I remember doing some research a few months ago, and finding that homeless people get TB 11 times more often that non-homeless people! That is just evil!

I'm sad that intoxication is such a huge factor. But, I really can understand why people who are homeless would need something to blunt the pain.

Thanks.
