Tibetan prayer wheel goes missing from Fremont
The Tibetan prayer wheel sat about two feet off the sidewalk on a wooden beam in front of the Planet Earth Yoga Center in Fremont.

When people and yoga students passed by on North 35th Street, they could spin the copper drum, which has prayers pressed on its side and a scroll of good thoughts inside.

In the Buddhist tradition, thoughts of peace and awakening would flow into the wind. But the 30-pound handmade wheel from Nepal has been missing since Saturday.

Yoga instructor Laura Yon-Brooks is perplexed as to why someone would take an object meant for everyone to enjoy.

"One thing everyone says is that it's really bad karma to steal people's prayers," she said.

1. Somebody is just begging to be reborn
as a dung beetle. Definitely not the best way to get off the wheel.

2. you'd think metal scrapyards would have some standards
yeah, that's a fucking tibetan prayer wheel, mr. meth addict. i won't buy it, but i will call the cops.

or buy it & then call the cops - i'm sure reimbursing the scrapyard for the expense would be cheaper than buying a new one from tibet.

3. Whats the real problem?
Edited on Mon Mar-19-07 02:16 PM by Wash. state Desk Jet
In Fremont as a matter of fact -it,s not about one copper thing.

And the problem has been around for a long time.

It,s not just about a copper pot- it,s about thiefs in underground parking lots stealing out of cars or stealing cars- robbing out of mail box,s-pan handling-sleeping in door ways,

It,s a on going problem that is getting worse.

Drug abuse is involved- but that means everything associated to that on the outside of the law.

It,s just like down town.
The scum bags walk among us durning the day-and become invisible at night.
Fremont -Ballard- Greenlake-The U. district-Wallingford,Queen Ann and Magnolia.

4. Here,s one you might have missed
Over on the far north end of Ballard thiefs-drug addicts broke into five houses on the same block at rush hour peek -just when it became dark P.M. the evening commute.

They robbed electronics -and other items.

Prior to that the thiefs were robbing out of cars in underground parking areas-selected in Fremont.

The odd thing is the ten known drug dealers in all surrounding districts.

Hell-is the Buckaroo tavern just a bar?
It,s more of a neighboor place where people know the real deal and scum bags are not welcome..

The truth is out there for those that must know.

5. Update: Stolen prayer wheel returned to yoga studio
NO ONE WANTS TO BE A DUNG BEETLE!

Was it fear of bad karma from stealing the Tibetan prayer wheel from a Fremont yoga studio?

Whatever the reason, Laura Yon-Brooks, a Planet Earth Yoga Center instructor, was just ecstatic that someone returned it Monday.

The 30-pound handmade wheel from Nepal was returned inside the yoga center's courtyard gate overnight, where it was found Monday morning.

"We were so excited. They didn't hurt it," Yon-Brooks said. "I'm just happy it came back."

6. People who steal "stuff" to sell it to a recycler are obviously desperate.
Whether for meth (all too often) or food, they are in dire straits. Returning this object, and that is all it is, because of its symbolic meaning, which is important, was a noble act. If karma points mean much, which I doubt, she/he/they get double credit in my view. Returning this wheel, in my view, earns a lot more of my respect than stealing it cost. That was a noble act.

7. It,s a thing.
Edited on Tue Mar-20-07 04:58 PM by Wash. state Desk Jet
If you have ever experienced deep down in your gut -a forewarning-that of something terrible in a happening imminent-where there is fear in there-where it is felt,

For a thief who is a thief by any other name, there is a hole rather than a gut feeling. And they can never satisfy it or fill it.
If a object catches their eye-and their sub conscious looks at it-than that feeling or erge runs threw them in continuous -until it the object is no longer there-the thief is no longer there,or the thief satisfys the uncontrolable erge -which runs into the hole they can never steel enough to fill.Which means it,s not necessarialy about desperiation.
