WTF? Washington joining in on anti-HCR lawsuit?
Edited on Mon Mar-22-10 04:42 PM by foxfeet
Rob McKenna was on KING announcing his participation. This while the state is facing a 2 billion dollar budgetary shortfall. What a spectacular waste of money.

Did I misunderstand or does anyone have details?

1. Gregoire does NOT approve
http://slog.thestranger.com/slog/archives/2010/03/22/gregoire-on-mckenna-he-does-not-represent-me

"I’m disappointed that the Attorney General would participate in a lawsuit to repeal a law that would help 1.5 million Washingtonians get access to affordable, quality health care.

I completely disagree with the Attorney General’s decision and he does not represent me."

13. My thought too
This should end his run as AG. I always thought he won because nobody knew anything about him. Now we know.

5. My Letter to Rob McKenna
Here is the link to post your comments to him.
https://fortress.wa.gov/atg/formhandler/ago/ContactForm.aspx

Subject: Re: I voted for you last election and I am a Democrat.

Mr. McKenna,

I voted for you last election because I honestly believed you put aside partisan politics to manage the laws in the state of WA for all citizens. I believed that you had performed well and deserved to continue in your position.

I put my faith in you that you would continue to perform the duties of AG in a non-partisan manner. Well, I was wrong and I will tell others who will listen I was wrong.

With your partisan act today of joining in lockstep the Republican party to deny American citizens the opportunity at affordable and available health care you have proven you are no different then all of the Republicans that voted "No" on the Health care bill.

Your actions are a travesty and I will actively pursue your defeat during the next election.

Sincerely,
Washington citizen

Write him and let him know what you think!

7. My letter to mr. McKenna. I didnt vote for you last election, because
in the last 20 years I have not found a republican politician that is worth the gasoline needed to drive a motorcycle once around a cheerio. And you have proved my point. You are a narrow minded piece of filth. You put corporate profits above human lives.

14. I'm spitting mad at the corporate give-aways in HCR. However,
McKenna is way out of line here. I'm going to wait a day or two until my overall outrage cools down a bit, and then I'll drop Fuckface a short note.

16. Phoning won't hurt either
My screed--

I don't like the health care bill either, as it is a give-away to the same insurance companies that are the cause of most of our health care system problems in the first place.

Oddly enough, Republicans are generally in favor of giving government money to corporations and keeping as much of it away from the little people as possible, but apparently the shame of having a black president being for a bill with such provisions overrides traditional instinct. Maybe if Republicans actually had real ideas other than killing off people without money by denying them health care, you'd have a leg to stand on yourselves.

Be that as it may, the State of Washington is under serious financial stress, and your frivolous lawsuit is something that we just plain can't afford right now.

18. My letter to the AG. I a;so posted a complain on his Facebook page.
Dear Attorney General McKenna:

I was irate when I read that you have elected to join with other Republican attorneys general to challenge the constitutionality of the recently passed health care reform bill.

I have been fighting for health care reform for more than three decades and I cheered when the vote tally was announced. My only complaint with the legislation that finally passed yesterday is that it does not go far enough. But, like the bill establishing Medicare, this is landmark legislation upon which we can build.

Your lawsuit threatens to turn my dream for national healthcare into a nightmare. How dare you file such a suit in my name! I urge you in the strongest terms possible to withdraw from this frivolous and damnable suit.

Sincerely,

19. It's really too bad Ladenburg didn't beat him
John Ladenburg would have been exceptional. But he couldn't get any traction. I've been rather surprised by the number of people who did vote for McKenna.

23. Goldy of Horses Ass has started an anti-McKenna PAC
http://horsesass.org/?p=25609

No doubt Washington Attorney General Rob McKenna was surprised by the furious backlash to his lawsuit to throw out the Affordable Health Insurance Act and the many benefits it bestows on the citizens of Washington state, but if we really want to shock and awe McKenna into submission, it’s time to put our money where our mouth is.

That’s why I’m proud to be a part of the “No Reversing Our Benefits Political Action Committee,” or as we like to shorten it, the “No R.O.B. PAC“, an organization dedicated to teaching McKenna — and anti-reform Republicans everywhere — a very important political lesson.

Every dollar raised by No R.O.B. PAC will be spent toward defeating Rob McKenna in 2012, regardless of the contest, and whomever his opponent is. Presumably that means the gubernatorial race, but, well, we won’t be particular. If McKenna insists on abusing his office to pander to the big insurance companies and the fringe Teabaggers instead of representing the citizens of Washington state, then we’ll make sure he won’t have an office to abuse.

How big an impact can we make. Well, McKenna has already raised $256,000 toward his 2012 campaign, a total we can easily pass if all 13,000 members of the Washington Tax Payers OPT OUT of Rob McKenna’s Lawsuit Facebook group each donate just $20.00 each. And if we only manage to average a mere $10.00 each, that would still leave us with more cash-on-hand than McKenna himself.

Just think of what kind of message that would send!

Yeah, the Teabaggers may be damn loud, but there are many more of us than there are of them, and we’re willing to do much more than just hurl threats and insults. The contributors we chalk up, and the more money we raise, the more we will make it clear to the political and media establishment where public opinion really lies in Washington state and throughout the nation.

So please give generously today!
