Two more mine fires in WV?
Edited on Wed Feb-01-06 05:27 PM by MountainLaurel
OK, so I was speaking with a friend a while ago, and he's telling me that he's hearing about a fire in Boone County with fatalities. (No link for it that I could find, but his boss works in the Capitol and was telling him about it.) So, I do a search of my hometown station to see what they're showing and find that there was a fire in Harrison County yesterday:

What the hell is going on? Is it just people being more aware of the issue and there normally are a couple fires each week? Or have there just been a rash of them recently and things are much more quiet?

4. Cover up in the works here...from the story...
...
"Authorities first told us there were no injuries in that fire.

Today, we're learning that's not the case.
...

This all contradicts what we were told yesterday.
The statement that no injuries were reported did not come from ICG.
It did come from the Federal Mine Safety and Health Administration and the State Mine Safety and Training Office."...

5. UPDATE
I just spoke to the newsroom at WCHS TV 8 in Charleston.

They told me that there are separate fatalities at two incidents in Boone County (south of Charleston) today. One near Racine and another at Long Branch.

God, this is so sickening.

The chickens are coming home to the MSHA roost.

While the Republicans were screaming that Gore would take our guns and Kerry would take our Bibles, George Bush took our mine inspectors.

7. That is Perfect!
"While the Republicans were screaming that Gore would take our guns and Kerry would take our Bibles, George Bush took our mine inspectors."

Call the Gazette vent line with that!

Cheers,
