Don't know what her poll numbers are, but Callaghan is low on money. The DCCC has not committed any money as of yet. Unless voters see a big difference in Callaghan and Capito she will probably win again.

I would very much like to see something like that. If I do I will post it here. I think the safest guess right now is that all 3 of our incumbent Representatives will be re-elected.

I sure would like to see Smelly defeated too. I'm glad Callaghan got the Democratic nomination because I think he has the best chance of beating her.

I've gotta give The News and Sentinel credit for publishing this stinging indictment of themselves.

There's another issue that's not in dispute at all: Last year Smelly switched from the Transportation to the Rules Committee. The timing of this move was particularly unfortunate for her constituents because she made this move as the roads bill was being cobbled together.

Essentially, she sacrificed the best interests of her district by abandoning a spot where she was well placed to deliver badly needed infrastructural funding in favor of a post where carrying water for Tom DeLay would advance her ambitions for a leadership post.

7. Capito's fundraising

Today Gazette says that she had $1.1 million on hand as of the end of June. Bush will be in Charleston later this month for a fundraiser for her, $2100/per person is the charge.

I just wish Mike Callaghan could start raising some money from Democrats both in this state and across the nation. I think he has a good chance of winning with some more money.

I'm inviting him on "Head-On With Bob Kincaid" so he can get the message to progressive democrats around the world. With any luck, we'll scare him up some good, old-fashioned grass roots green.

I think that's a great idea. I've written to all the blogs I regularly read and to the DCCC asking for their support. I just know if progressive Democrats look into Mike's record and if they could meet him, they'd support him. Donations of just $5 would really help, I think.
