4. Thanks!
Thanks for the welcome! I wish I could come here more often. I used to post as Catfish on the main discussion boards a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it.

Mike's website is:

http://www.mikewv.com/

He has a very good campaign staff, very friendly.

Our Randolph County Democratic Women's Club is trying to get a big name Democrat to come to the district and fundraise for Mike. We've invited Al Gore, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi and will keep inviting people until we can get someone.

Thanks for your help and please tell everyone you know how much Mike needs help to take back the second district for the Democratic Party.

6. Nothing on Patriots for Peace yet but found this:
FYI:

WV-02: President Bush to Headline 7/26 Fundraiser for Rep. Shelley Moore Capito
TheCharleston Daily Mail(7/4, Stump) notes that "President Bush is coming to Charleston on July 26 for a private fundraising reception for U.S. Rep. Shelley Moore Capito at the South Hills home of Drew and Mary Payne, sources said. ... Between 1,000 and 2,000 invited guests are expected to attend, sources said. Invitations were mailed on Monday. The president is expected to fly into Yeager Airport, attend the reception and then quickly leave that same evening. ... Bush has been a frequent visitor to Charleston and other West Virginia cities since winning his first term in 2000."

7. From Sunday Gazette-Mail July 23
The fund-raising dinner for Capito (7/26) will be at 1414 Louden Heights Road which Dubya will be attending-the Patriots for Peace and WV Citizens Action Group will gather on the front yard at 1400 Connell Road for a dinner ($4.20) and music. They plan to set up their "Wall of Remembrance" placards listing the names of US soldiers who have died in Iraq.

I hope lots of people come out!

8. Arnold retracts his offer
The day after it was reported in the Sunday Gazette-Mail that Jim and Phyllis Arnold would be allowing opponents of the Iraq War to use their front yard in South Hills to demonstrate against President Bush, Jim Arnold retracted the offer.

"I've had a change of mind," Arnold said today. "I've talked to them (the protesters) this morning. They're going to relocate the activity they had for Wednesday."

He declined to say what prompted his decision Friday to allow the protesters to use his front yard and then change his mind.

9. I saw the Daily Mail article
The Wall of Remembrance is to be on the South Side bridge-if Bush doesn't travel that way he won't see it, so I hope some protestors show up on Louden Heights, where a "hotbed" of Republicans live, to let Bush know a lot of us don't want him here.
