Grothman was a staunch opponent of the recently passed Healthy Youth Act, a law that requires all state public schools that teach sex education to provide a comprehensive and all-inclusive curriculum; among other things, for example, schools can no longer teach abstinence-only sex education. One of Grothman’s main problems with the bill was its insistence on requiring the teaching of homosexuality.

In actuality, the bill didn’t outright require that homosexuality be taught, but rather that no bias be placed against “any race, gender, sexual orientation, or ethnic or cultural background or against sexually active students or pupils with disabilities.” (Emphasis added)

Grothman is appalled--appalled!--that the bill would grant homosexual students the same opportunity to receive a comprehensive sexual education that straight students would get.

Grothman looked back to his glory days in high school as a reference point. “Did anyone even know what homosexuality was in high school in 1975?” he asked rhetorically in a recent interview. “I don’t remember any discussion about that at the time. There were a few guys who would make fun of a few effeminate boys, but that’s a different thing than homosexuality. Homosexuality was not on anyone’s radar. And that’s a good thing.”

2. --and returning to a time of ignorance improves education
right? sheesh. dumbest argument I've ever heard. Maybe some of that 1975 ignorance allowed the AIDS crisis to hit the way it did.

4. Ow.. That made my brain hurt...
But then again, Grothman and his ilk are all for pursuing a curriculum that has shown in study after study to be an abject failure.

Isn't that the very definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over again while expecting different results?
