Stereotypes feed bigotry in small Midwestern towns
I'm posting this here for two reasons: One, the incident mentioned in the article happened in my neck of the woods (the article is printed in St. Paul Pioneer Press) and two, because it's true.

I had to listen to some of this racist shit Thoj mentioned from many sources in and around town.

2. Hmong are the hill people
of southern China and adjacent areas of Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand.

4. RE: "I hope I don't sound stupid, but what is HMong? n/t"
The Hmong people were called "hill people" in Vietnam (western mountain ranges). During the Vietnam war, some U.S. military assholes "found them" and to their surprise they weren't part of the conflict!

Oh no, can't have that! So what did we do? We armed them and sent them into a war that, until they met the CIA, had no part of let alone any knowledge of what was going on.

Their greatest contribution to the "war effort" was that the Hmong became infamous for saving U.S. pilots shot down over SE Asia from ending up in the hands of the North Vietnamese.

6. The Hmong are also one of the most prevalent immigrant
groups from SE Asia. Hard to find anyone who works harder than a Hmong. Most stay together in groups all over the US, work as cooperatives and are highly sucessful.

5. I used to live in Wausau,
so I know where you're coming from. I just knew the media out there would use this case to feed the bigotry. Shameful.
