8. And what did the FIB say?
Or did he/she just show up, dump his/her RV's toilet into the river off the bridge, and leave all their trash on the side of the road while going 85 miles an hour talking on their cell phone and eating?

They helped....The bigger smallmouth give a little more than the boys can handle, but they are pretty good at setting the hook.

14. My 6 yr old is all ready for a summer of fishing
his grandpa took him out last summer on the lake, and he got "hooked" if you'll excuse the pun.

My folks live on Lake Chetek, so I've been fishing there for 20 years. Summers only. I'm not build for ice fishing...

23. Yep....
Edited on Wed Mar-16-05 10:25 AM by ewagner
It's known locally as the SooLine Dock....US Steel used it as a mooring site for two of it's 1000 foot-long ore carriers back a few years ago.....The dock itself is impressive...it will outlast us all.

on edit: Just read the link to the article.....When I was Mayor of Ashland, Soo Line wanted to "gift" the Oredock to the City. (After I threatened to tax it as abandoned property) The City Attorney was adamantly opposed to it because of the potential liability arising from it. We entertained proposals to turn it into a hotel by slipping modular units between the pillars....nothing ever came of it.......

I agree with Ashland's current Mayor (quoted in the link) that if it can be turned into an asset it would be great...

19. You'll have to host them on a proxy site
Upload your picture files to an image hosting site like http://www.imageshack.us

Then you can link directly to your images and they'll be visible on DU.

25. I definately agree, e.
This is a wonderful community. Gossipy, but name me one place in small-town WI (or anywhere, for that matter) that ISN'T gossipy.

I'm going to ask one of my friends here for some better photos. He's published quite a few, and he has a real gift.

BTW, how are you doing? Recovering well? I'll bet that spring will look at the more beautiful for you this year. :)

36. Well, here's a Kerry one, to go with the others
and the man in the foreground with the silver hair and glasses is our dear friend, Paul, who recently died.

and then for a different perspective (not as artsy as everyone else's photos), here's our place, from a few feet up in the air...

(AllyCat, fyi, it's 1500 meters around the field, and that's our sand arena running off to the right at the top of the picture) It all looks flat from the satellite photo, but it's really quite hilly terrain. Not a flat spot on the place except for the riding arena, for which we had to pay big money to have MADE flat!
