Conservatives lose court battle over wheat board, showdown in Parliament looming

WINNIPEG - The federal government's attempts to strip the Canadian Wheat Board of its barley monopoly were rejected by a court for a second time Tuesday, setting the stage for a showdown with the opposition in Parliament.

They're saying that this could be a confidence motion. I doubt the Libs would bring the govt down over this.

...you could expect a rise in Liberal fortunes in Saskatchewan and Manitoba. The farmers don't want this Tory plan either.

Winnipeg Liberal MP Raymond Simard said last week he will ask his caucus colleagues to oppose any bill ending the wheat board monopoly, even if it is deemed a confidence matter that could trigger an election.
