Canadian citizenship
It this possible for U.S. citizens?

What are the restrictions, if any, as far as access to health care goes?

1. You have a few options for how to approach Canada
The most common is to apply for "permanent resident" status. It costs about $500 USD to apply and you have to have at least 67 points on a set of criteria to determine eligiblity. You get points for being a certain age, having work experience in certain areas, speaking french, etc. If you are not going to enter the labor market in canada then there are other methods for entry.

You don't get health care the moment you show up. After 3 years of residency in Canada you can apply for citizenship and many American immigrants retain dual citizenship. Once you have a health card you can get all the health care your doctor(s) wich to provide.

6. Oui...c'est vrai
"Canada accepts more legal immigrants relative to its population than any country on Earth.

In the past two years, almost half a million immigrants arrived, a shade less than half of them in one city alone -- Toronto. The largest numbers for the country as a whole, amounting to almost 40 per cent of the total, came from China, India, Pakistan and the Philippines.

The federal government, responsible for immigration targets, heralds these waves on humanitarian and economic grounds, the argument being that immigration shows Canada as a caring country whose new arrivals will fuel future economic growth."

Welcome to Canada, eh?

Bienvenu a Canada, eh?
