Blair and the Congressional Medal of Honour
I see that even he had the good sense and decency to turn this down! No doubt influenced by his advisors and by the polls.

2. He is well advised
Crossing the atlantic before November would be unwise.

Maybe he's thinking that when kerry wins, he'll be forgiven
for being a bush poodle... Until then, why remind anyone.

3. Blairs close relationship with Bush
has come very much at the behest of the DNC and the DLC. I do not think we would have gone to war in Iraq had it not for the Big Dog addressing the Labour party conference. That address did more to swing the Labour membership behind Blair than any number of dodgy dossiers. You should read Greg Palast to get the inside skinny into real Bush and Blair relationship. They are not the good friends they pretend to be.

Whether the Democratic grsssroots forgives Blair, that is another matter. I very much doubt that. In fact, if the Labour Party, do not do something dramatic the Liberal Democrats will supplant them in the affections of the Democrats.

If Kerry wins I expect to see Blair stand down and be replaced by Broon. Broon and Kerry are friends from way back.

4. I was under the impression he hadn't turned it down
He just won't go and pick it up in person. Probably fears (quite rightly) that it's purely a media circus to boost George's poll numbers.
