Poll question: What would make the best Tony Blair legacy?
Tony wants to be remembered as a Prime Minister who made a huge
difference for Britain. I presume he'll try to stick out a short
term before he's clapped-out as the labour party discovers his
diminished political capital.

So what would be the best legacy?

1. I think he always wanted to take Britain into the Euro to be his legacy
Edited on Wed May-25-05 06:39 AM by Anarcho-Socialist
No one thinks that's possible now.

I think his best legacy will be his honourable interventions in Kosovo and Sierra Leone. These will be forgotten because the mistake that is Iraq will overshadow them.

2. I voted PR
It is such a small thing, but one that would unite britain in the
coming years more than anything else. Blair, if he was wise, would
take electoral reform to heart, as it would make him the founder of
the next generation of justice in british politics, much like womens
sufferage. He would get credit for enfranchising millions of voices
stomped on by the existing electoral system.

Gosh, well here goes wishing he was wise.

3. Other
A combination of the 1st 2 options & the House of lords one, as well as:
scrapping the anti-terror/police-state erecting laws, i.e. house arrest, Belmarsh Prison, secret trials, secret evidence
ditching ID cards,
bringing back double jeporady,
removing the ability for a defendants previous convictions to be used as evidence against him,
scrapping the drug laws.

There's probably a load of others, but I can't think of them at the moment...

6. Massive investigation of his conspiring to lie Britain into war.
Investigation reveals Chimpy's involvement, forcing US to face Chimpy's lies regarding Iraq, and leads to the Impeachment and imprisonment of Chimpy.
