38. Basically bad
...But NBC actually did a half-credible job compared to ABC this evening. NBC had cameras there and actually covered the event, the history. ABC did NOTHING except for Pete Jennings giving a rather dismissive 25 seconds about it.
NBC, though, never mentioned Blackwell and deeper reasons for the whole thing.

9. here is something at Yahoo
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=512&ncid=703&e=2&u=/ap/20050106/ap_on_go_co/electoral_vote

WASHINGTON - A small group of Democrats agreed Thursday to force House and Senate debates on Election Day problems in Ohio before letting Congress certify President Bush (news - web sites)'s win over Sen. John Kerry (news - web sites) in November.

While Bush's victory is not in jeopardy, the Democratic challenge will force Congress to interrupt tallying the Electoral College (news - web sites) vote, which had been scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. EST Thursday. It would be only the second time since 1877 that the House and Senate were forced into separate meetings to consider electoral votes.

Sen. Barbara Boxer (news, bio, voting record), D-Calif., signed a challenge mounted by House Democrats to Ohio's 20 electoral votes, which put Bush over the top. By law, a protest signed by members of the House and Senate requires both chambers to meet separately for up to two hours to consider it. Lawmakers are allowed to speak for no more than five minutes each.

19. The Fox announcer just said "Conyers is hitching his more conspiratorial
wagon to Boxer's engine".

Thery're hoping Democrats will "overplay their hand" and trigger a "backlash" of support for Bush. Of course, it goes without saying they are going to distort what happens to make it seem a "reach" and to elicit an outpuring of support for porr poor little Dubya.

28. MSNBC is being extrememly negative...
with smarmy, little smiles on their faces. They've talked about how MOST Dem Senators find this group of extremist embarassing and they don't want to be put in the position of having to vote for either Smirk or "the RADICAL FRINGE." I am furious at the idea that caring about honest elections is a crazy, fringe notion.

They also (along with C-Span) have been very quick to reassure everyone that Chimpy will be elected. ("So, don't worry and don't question.")

I'm going to call MSNBC right now and tell them to knock off their little comments.

33. CNN reporter said it's just a symbolic protest to call attention ..
... to voting irregularities, etc. His tone indicated it doesn't really mean anything.

Said the two houses will discuss and dispatch the objections, and then come back together to certify the election. Basically blew it off, and went back to Yates and the Tsunami.

Eat my shorts, MSM. Time for a major boycott of these ho's.

36. I just tuned in Fox, and the reporter there looked like
for the first time in his life, he discovered we MIGHT have a two-party system in America, and he WAS hysterical. The veins in his neck were puffed out, he looked flustered and breathless...and said, "In less than an hour, this will be all over, and Bush will be certified as President." Funny, but his eyes and non-verbals did NOT match his breathy words. LOL.

Then the anchor beside him gave a high-schoolish giggle, smirk response...reassuring the audience that all was soon going to be okay again.

No, not by Foxie-rules. Sorry.

37. Maybe we should just stop worrying about the MSM and
support our alternative and online media and help them grow.

They deserve our support.

They do fundraising, sell banner space, sell books, have online stores. And they have the news.

39. Something about Ohio...
It was barely a footnote to the day's main story about the AG nominee promising not to torture us. Yet its still a small victory.

The challenge was mentioned but not explained, so people will just remember in the back of their mind that there was SOMETHING fishy about the election. Something about Ohio.

This will leave the great brain-washed with a vague feeling that the Republicans' legitimacy is tainted.

Dems need to forge a two year frame that the lack of CHECKS AND BALANCES is endangering our constitutional system.

Anything that doesn't pass the "smell" test must be shouted from the rooftops and show the opposition as obstructionists. This one-party state of ours cannot police itself --all investigations are stifled by partisanship. Election irregularities are the perfect place to start. We can continue raising doubts because they'll never be concluded...
