letter from boxer tonight.............she isnt going to back down
Edited on Tue Jan-18-05 10:54 PM by seabeyond
Dear Julie,

This morning I entered the Senate hearing room with a wonderful feeling, knowing that over 40,000 of you stood behind me as I sought to hold Condoleezza Rice accountable for her many actions leading up to the war in Iraq and beyond. I talked about your support during my opening statement. And knowing you were with me gave me the energy I needed to keep fighting for the truth.

I hope you had a chance to watch some of Condoleezza Rice's confirmation hearings today. Because if you did, I'm sure you'll share my feelings.

I'm disappointed and I'm frustrated, because I don't think Dr. Rice has been forthcoming in our quest for the truth. Time after time, Dr. Rice had the opportunity to set the record straight on many issues. And, on issue after issue, she failed to do so.

She failed to set the record straight on the hyped-up nuclear threat leading up to the war on Iraq; she failed to do it on the total number of trained Iraqi security forces, which is key to the Administration's exit strategy there; she failed to do it on her misstatements about Al Qaida operating in Iraq; and she failed to do it on the U.S. policy regarding torture. This last issue is the most troubling one, as it was clearly demonstrated that while Dr. Rice speaks out against torture, she actually personally intervened to kill an anti-torture provision in a recent intelligence bill.

So, I'm not going to back down -- I'm going to keep asking the tough questions, illuminating the many inconsistencies, falsehoods, and disturbing revelations in Dr. Rice's previous statements about Iraq, the war on terrorism, and the use of torture -- holding her accountable for the failures of our foreign policy.

Now, in these final hours before our committee votes on Condoleezza Rice's confirmation, you have one last opportunity to make your voice heard in this process. Demonstrate to Dr. Rice and the United States Senate your dissatisfaction with her lack of candor. Help me demand the truth and hold Condoleezza Rice accountable.

Tell your friends, family, and colleagues to sign my petition today -– in these final hours before the confirmation hearings conclude.

Thank you so much for standing with me in this fight for the truth. I can't tell you how much I value your friendship and support.

Sincerely,

http://ga4.org/campaign/ricehearings/d7866k91jmexid

3. I want to see Condi cry
There is enough fact out there. If they confront her with enough truth I really think we can make her cry and I for one would love to see it. She's a God Damn liar and I think they should call her one.

5. It only takes one voice to question the Big Lie.
Boxer, by standing up on January 6, did it then, and maybe the feeling is just too good to let go of, when you have the encouragement of other citizens pouring in to your offices.

:)

7. Rice is under oath. I hope Senators Boxer, Kerry and others ....
....make her understand exactly what that means before these hearings are over.

The woman is complicit, at best, in lying to the American public, the UN and numerous governments about Iraq; in waging an illegal and immoral war; in the torture and killing of prisoners.....just how long does this list have to get before folk stop interviewing her for Sec of State and start prosecuting her for the criminal that she is.

How long?

That is the only question.

How long?

And, let's not even get started on the playful summer of '01 and her dereliction of duty.

How long?

I'm glad to see at least one Dem had the guts to get into Rice's face and ask her about the BS this administration fed us about getting into the invasion and occupation of another nation under one big lie.

12. In memory of the victims of 9/11, I signed it.
Frankly, I didn't sign it at first because I'd rather see Ms. Rice in a job where she can't get any more of us killed. Suppose as a result of this petition, she gets to remain as National Security Adviser? That would be NOT GOOD, but because of this update and in memory of those who perished, I signed it today. Thanks for posting.

14. IMHO, as if it matters...
I sure like the ground is a warior's comment on an advantageous position. I wish I could get Senator Boxers eyes to read this one.

Tomorrow AM is the time for The Senator to become prosecutorial. She should be asking specific questions about when things happened, when things were known. Quick yes or no or date answers. No elaboration. This is as close to deposition as The Bush Opposition is going to get for a while. We need at least this testimony on record, now:

She should be asked if she has any knowledge of payola.
She should state a position on propaganda.
She should be asked her whereabouts on Nov. 2.
She should give a chronology of key events from 1998 on.
She should be asked about her knowledge of PNAC publications.

With her working from notes, I hope to see the 'Boxer Boogie' tomorrow AM.

If pressed, I seriously doubt that Lied Rice will be able to refrain form perjury. I'm sure she would end up giving self conflicting testimony. Even if she pulls that one off, there will be a treasure trove on the record under penalty of perjury for use as new information comes to light.

As an added bonus, I'm really loving the contralto quiver in her voice.

Now where are the video archives from the watergate hearings?

17. Here's what I just sent:
Dear Senator,

You are magnificent. We are all so proud of you.

Now, for the next session. Rice is under oath and she, like her boss and all those around the, are truth-impaired, big time.

Thus, tomorrow AM is the time for you to become "prosecutorial." Ask specific questions about when things happened, when things were known. Quick yes or no or date answers. No elaboration. Those of us forming THE BUSH OPPOSITION need at least this sworn testimony on record, now:

Please ask if Rice has any knowledge of payola.

What is her position on propaganda.

What was her knowledge of torture in Iraq, Afghanistan and Gitmo before it was uncovered.

She should be asked her whereabouts on Nov. 2 2004.

She should be asked to explain why she did not convince Bush in August of 2001 to get off the ranch and onto the Osama threat.

She should be asked to specify what contact and relationship she has with Howard Ahmanson and Richard Mellon Scaife.

She should be asked what her opinion is of the dominionist movement and if she is affiliated with it in any way.

She should be asked if she knows whom outed Valerie Plame.

She should be asked about her knowledge of PNAC publications.

Thank you.

22. Question: Do you think Condi actually believes her own lies and doesn't
realize she is lying? I wonder...if she is just totally b.s.ing or...sometimes I get the feeling she actually believes what she is saying and can't distinguish lies from truth? Either way it is not a comforting thought that this woman will be our SOS. I wonder this about Bush too, if he actually convinces himself that the lies are the truth.
