E-mail Others: How to Replace Your Homepage Jan. 20
Edited on Wed Jan-19-05 08:39 AM by snot
Below is an e-mail I'm sending to folks. The text of the replacement page I put up on my own site this morning is:

This site is temporarily closed in order to call your attention to the need for election reform.

Irregularities in the 2004 election on a scale never before seen in the U.S. have been documented. Please see the evidence for yourself:

Some of the irregularities in Ohio: http://www.bpac.info

Paper by Dr. Steven Freeman analyzing discrepancies between the exit polls
and reported vote results:
http://www.appliedresearch.us/sf/epdiscrep.htm

Another paper analyzing the exit poll discrepancies:

http://www.blackboxvoting.org

http://www.usvip.org

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2004_U.S._Election_controversies_and_irregularities

http://www.truthout.org

http://www.freepress.org/index2.php

Thank you.

Here's the e-mail I'm sending out:

You can use your website to express your concerns about the 2004 election irregularities by replacing your website homepage on January 20. I have already done this on my site—see http://www.c-cyte.com.

To temporarily replace your home page, just create a new page with the text, properties, etc. you want. If you like, you are welcome to use or modify the replacement page I created; the source code is provided below. Then go into your existing website pages and find the page called “index.html”, and re-name it, “indexNORMAL.html”. Then, re-name your new, temporary page, “index.html”. Then upload both the old “indexNORMAL.html” page (so as to keep an extra back-up copy of your normal home page) and the NEW “index.html” -- and voila!

To return your website back to normal, just go into your web pages again and re-name the replacement index.html something else, like indexELECTION.html, and then change the name of the “indexNORMAL.html” back to “index.html” and re-upload it.

Here’s the source code for my replacement page, in case it’s any help:

JUST KIDDING

snot is talking about changing the home page of your personal web site or the home page for the web site you manage, not the homepage of your browser.

EDIT: I removed a comment advocated doing something that is illegal.
