Go Sue Yourself!
I have heard two election officials in California say this week that if a recount was necessary they would go to court and sue themselves to get one! The Registrar of Voters of Monterey County said this on the radio with Brad Friedman of bradblog (show is linked at http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=203&topic_id=398537&mesg_id=398537) and then yesterday the Santa Cruz County Clerk said the same thing to me in a meeting.

Have you ever heard of an individual or a government agency suing itself?! Sounds really odd to me. Would they pay lawyers for both sides of the case? Do you think they'd settle out of court? Would they end up having to pay damages to themselves?

I'd appreciate any light you can shed on this for me.

1. It's the "trust me" line. They are jiving when they claim they would

7. If he's suing himself he must be transferring money into his own pocket
other than the rarity of an injunction or declaratory relief, all courts do is transfer money.
