AN EXPLANATION FOR THE MISSING VOTES? ( Fla)
Edited on Tue Feb-13-07 09:50 PM by flyarm
I got this today from the Fla ( state) DEMOCRATIC PARTY...fly ..

Tuesday E-News Brief From the Florida Democratic Party, 2/13/07

AN EXPLANATION FOR THE MISSING VOTES?

We found a major problem with the Secretary of State's (SOS) election results file, which was delivered to the state legislature as the SOS is statutorily obligated to do within 75 days of the general election. This file, obtained from the SOS's office, indicated that a total of 4,389,616 of Florida's registered voters cast a ballot in the 2006 election. Unfortunately, this number is 494,928 fewer than the Official Results posted on the SOS website. Disturbingly, the 494,928 missing voters represent more than 10% of the voters that, according to the SOS website, cast ballots - a significant error. While this error may not be indicated on the local Supervisor of Election (SOE) file, it is in the official SOS file released to the state legislative leaders. In essence, the SOS office corrupted the data of the local SOEs - and this happened statewide, with every county's data. You helped apply pressure to the SOS, forcing them to respond - committing to fixing the file and delivering it to us this week. We'll keep you posted on this important issue.

2. That states the discrepancy, but doesn't explain it.
What's the explanation?

17. Found this ...problem appears to lie in the SOS's coding of voters at the state level...
Edited on Wed Feb-14-07 01:30 AM by btmlndfrmr
The root of this problem appears to lie in the SOS's coding of voters at the state level - not the county level. Each Florida voter is supposed to receive one of six codes, such A for voted absentee, N for did not vote, or E for voted early. However, 2,662,861 voters were erroneously coded with an X. A designation for this code does not appear in any official document that we could obtain, and the SOS's office could not offer us a reasonable explanation for what it means. We believe that the 494,928 missing voters are among the 2,662,861 X-coded voters, but there is no way to tell based on the SOS file.

The above paragraph is the only "meaty" info from the URL below. It's dated 2/7/07

18. i checked to see if my vote,my husbands voteor my sons vote counted
none were registered as counting through the web site to validate our votes!!

we all voted absentee..

and i checked them all to make sure they were done 100% correctly..since that is what i worked on and ran the absentee ballots for the kerry campaign for 3 counties in 2004..and i am a poll watcher at large..so i have taken all the classes..

and i am an elected dem delegate in fla..

and several candidates i am good friends with did not hve their votes registered with the state web site either!!

but not to worry..the FDP says there is nothing wrong with the voting machines!!
( i have been fighting them for 5 years now to get them to recognise the problems!!)...but DLC tells them to ignore us about the machines!!..and tabulators...

i wish i could say ..i only blame the rethugs..

but i can't say that.........

9. If someone gives me change that's a dime short, I notice.
Most people do. Changing the paradigm on the value of a vote is something that seems to be well under way, don't you think?

12. Absolutely, I agree. "Every vote counts and count every vote"
as the saying goes. I do think the difficulties we have had since 2000 have made many, many people more aware of how precious the right to vote is and how important it is to be able to audit an election, just as you would with money, counting in a way that is fair and open. I would not trust people secretly counting my money, would you? I don't know anyone who would. Truly, the vote is a treasure and I think many people have rediscovered that under the recent threats to our elections here in the USA.

14. I like your icon
and your insistence on focusing on the people who were lost in this tragedy, the people who caused this tragedy, and the people upon whose watch it happened.

This is a huge kink in the hose of the flow of democratic principles to the world at large. For these crooks to grab the mantle of the spread of democracy is adding insult to injury, and I'm not standing still for either.

8. Mark my words, the "undervotes" are and will continue to be
a significant means used to steal elections with electronic voting. I think this will be proven and revealed even more than it already has.

16. Funny how "fixing" has divergent meanings, isn't it?
Might mean modifying, might mean authenticating, might mean...

Language is a tool like a wrench. Use it to repair, or throw it into the machinery.

20. 10%, that's how they swung the 2004 election
10%, you go to vote, and if you vote democratic, it conveniently gets lost, I hope the pressure keep up on this one, thanks for the post.

I reposted this info a couple of places and there was a request if someone might be aware of what voter registration/voter
history system they use. Is it Diebold?
Thanks in advance!

24. This is in addition to the more than 20% undervotes already found in many precincts
in several counties in 2 Congressional races and the Attorney Generals race??

Sarasota, Lee, Charlotte, Sumter had over 20% undervotes in very precints in congressional and attorney generals race.
And Broward, Dade, Seminole, Pasco, Lake also had high undervotes in Congressional races.

Are we talking about almost half a million more missing votes on top of those?
