Iowa caucus cards cut for delegates

Cross posted in GDP.

This happened in Mills County. I learned of this today from a union member that was there. This is not a based on here-say post. High card between the three camps won a delegate. I know the math formula should have prevented this.

The formula was: votes per candidate times delegates in the precinct then divided by total attending precinct.

1. So, which way did it go?
Who got the delegate and who was the vote leader?

2. so someone bad at math used a shortcut to decide one delegate
in one caucus in one county in Iowa?

doesn't sound significant enough to change the outcome

3. Hey Steve, thanks for reposting this. Wish I could help but I don't know
diddly about how Iowa does anything. I'm just lurking around in here because I think election reform is a very important issue and could come back to bite us in Nov. if we don't pay attention. Nobody wants to see another 2000 or 2004 or any number of questionable results in between ! :hi:

5. Steve, pages 6,7 & 8 explain delegate allotment and selection
http://www.iowafirstcaucus.org/pdfs/2008_Caucus_Guide.pdf

When there is a tie (and there can be a tie) a game of chance will be used to determine who does/does not get the delegate.

All candidates who participated in the Iowa Caucuses knew this was the procedure. If they did not train their supporters/observers it is not the fault of the Iowa Democratic Party (who held at least two caucus trainings in each of Iowa's 99 counties prior to the caucus and had this caucus guide on the internet for at least the last three months). It is the same procedure that has been in place since at least 2000 (which means anyone who participated in the 2004 caucuses should have been aware of it).
