The Electronic Voting Machine Hokey Pokey (You Put Your Right Vote In. It Spits Your Wrong Vote Out)
Paperless electronic voting machines are sometimes referred to as a "black box," but a "black hole" would be more like it. Like a black hole, once the true intention of your vote goes in, there is no way for it to escape - no paper confirmation, no audit system, and no way to identify a problem and fix it. But unlike a real black hole, and the hokey pokey for that matter - electronic voting machines are so not cool.

1. Blaming the electronics is missing the point.
Exactly how are resistors, transistors and chips responsible for "no paper confirmation, no audit system, and no way to identify a problem and fix it"? Blaming electronics for these poorly designed, vendor & state monopolized, and completely unverifiable systems is just plain silly.

3. Right
The blame goes to the politicians who supported the machines with money and the lack of mouth to get rid of the damn things.

And to all the assholes that have supported the machines counting our votes in any way shape or form. You know who you are. FU!

2. Optical scanning is reasonably reliable
But there MUST absolutely be required hand-counted audits. Minnesota has such a system in place that could be a model for other states.

Furthermore, since voting is completely separate from tabulation, there is no disenfranchisement due to long waits for machines. One precinct scanner can handle the work of 20 DREs.
