If the election shoe were on the other foot
An effective campaign strategy for the republicans involved assuming the worst interpretation of a story and letting their opponents deal with it. Republican strategists could, and did, take harmless, justifiable Kerry positions and twist them into something they were not. Democrats never got it and did the same, even when running against the worst administration led by a president with the most checkered record and past ever. Not much twisting would have even been required with Plame, Medicare, WMD, Iraq, AWOL, environment, Edmons, 9/11, etc etc.. Democrats played safe and fair and tame.

Democratic leaders are playing fair and safe again. There are plenty of reasons to question election results in many areas. Plenty of smoke. And where they should be yelling fire, they are saying nothing. If the democratic party was an opposition party, it SHOULD be assuming the worst interpretation of election anomalies and calling for congress to investigate and calling for the administration to prove otherwise.

This is the way it works now, and they aren't up to it. The republicans are.

I don't buy that all of our congresspersons, and their staffers, are in on some secret wait and see game with Kerry (Kerry may be doing it, but not hundreds of others). As in the last 4 years, our representatives are simply not there for us.

If tampering theories get legs and something significant comes of it, the next targets for the heroic bloggers, 527's, and bbv.orgs that have sprung up should be our leaders in congress and the media for ignoring the story of the century.

1. If this thing was turned around, you would need to look no farther that
Ken Star and Clinton indictments to know what kind of shit would be hitting the fan.
But this is why this happens to the Democrats, because their integrity is above the sewers that the repukes live in and their for their MORAL values will not allow them to play the dirty tricks that the repukes are famous for.
America didn't want MORAL VALUES, they wanted the bushshit that gets shoveled them every time they turn on the boob tube or sit in the pew on Sunday.

2. I assure you, you can drive a steamroller with integrity...
...with wit, and with intelligence. Key is to have the guts to drive the damn thing and stop being asphalt to the Republican's 'my way or you are part of my driveway.'

for a little fun and inspiration check out "Republicans Demand - Prove My Vote Counts, Now" - not really a shameless plug but a persistent nag ;-)

Peace.
