Anyone else think "Perfume" was a crushingly cynical book?
I just finished it, and while it was beautifully written, it really doesn't say anything good about humans. :P

1. I read it a while back so I'm rusty
But I thought the central couple were pretty cute together - for centuries. The very portrayal of two people loving each other for that long is far from cynical in my book! :D

6. I thought you were referring to Jitterbug Perfume
Who is the author? I'll give it a read.

10. I read that years ago and still think about it. It was great, just great.
I might have to read it again.

3. I read the Perfume about the
serial killer in France, too. Is there another "Perfume" you are referring too?

8. When I read it last time I remember liking it but having a hard time with the idea that he was just
plan evil. No hope from the beginning to be a decent human being. In that sense it was very cynical.

I am reading it for my book club now and it will be interesting to see how I feel about it now. The whole 'smell' thing is interesting.
