"Nature's End" by Whitley Strieber

I just got done reading this, and outside of the central character story, the imagery and description of the world under crippling enviromental consequences rings almost eerily true to me--the novel scared me quite a bit actually. Nature's End describes a world where enviromental harms went unchecked until it was too late--along with a plot about what means the rest of the world would take to deal with overpopulation and lack of enviromental resources--but I think it's an excellent read and I'd suggest all of you to pick it up.

3. flashback! I hadn't thought of that book in years!

I liked it much better than his weird alien books, and I recall it having very much the same impression it had for you

I may have to pick that one up again :)

4. It's an excellent book.

I'v e read it a few times. War Day by Strieber is also very good.

6. Hate to disagree but...

After thinking long and hard for some time (and having read it about three times) I found it anti-environmentalist and racist and also quite right-wing/libertarian. This is my opinion and I don't mean to criticise other posters by posting it:shrug:

it probably didn't help that the original post didn't fully credit both authors

7. he co-wrote this with james kunetka, who also did war day with him

two good books but unfortunately once streiber lost his mind then i don't think kunetka wanted to work with him any more

streiber sort of kicked the guts out of their credibility as serious writers with communion

i also disliked the ending, which was discouraging since it just suggested to me that they didn't see any way out of this mess, so they just ran out of steam writing

i don't mean to sound so negative, it is definitely a worthwhile read
