1. It was one start.
For christ's sake, let him get going a little. Do you not remember Pedro would get shelled in his first outing every year too?

2. We'll see
Not that I was asked of course, but I thought this signing was stupid at the time and I still do. I'll be pleasantly surprised and will admit I was wrong if and when Wells proves to be worth it.

Sure, it was just one start but his spring wasn't too great either. Heck, I've been a Sox fan my whole life...we need instant gratification. It's not like we wait 86 years for a championship ALL the time! ;)

3. Hmm....Wells also had a lousy spring training as well - ERA over 7
In my opinion, Wells has been washed up for several years - the final piece of evidence for me was when he lay writhing on the ground and had to be carried off the field during the Yankees-Marlins World Series. He was in that situation because the tub of lard that he is couldn't push back from the table and get to the gym even though he was being paid big bucks to keep himself physically fit enough to pitch 6 or 7 innings every fourth day.

6. Yeah, but Lowe stunk last year until the playoffs
I've gotta wonder what your guy DePo was thinking with that signing.

7. Wait until he gets in Fenway!
He took a beating in New York, a lefthanders park. In Fenway he's REALLY in trouble.

It was a terrible signing. Wells will struggle to be league average.
