I was just disgusted with Papelbon's performance.

New England still loves them, though. I've had more "wait til next year" seasons than I can remember.

2. I've been waiting for Papelbon to cost us big all year

He may have had a low ERA and a good saves/opportunity ratio, but he was always putting men on base and allowing the winning run to get to the plate etc. It's time for him to go. I'm not sure when his contract is up, but since his dynamite year in 2005, he's been going downhill every season if you look at his numbers. For some reason he's still a fan favorite although I would be more sorry to see people like Jason Bay go than him.

Meantime, we've got a young dude by the name of Bard who can hit triple digits on the speed gun. Just sayin'.
