3. it's iffy how he could do
in the past, AL pitchers that move to the NL usually feast on the weaker NL hitters, but NL hitters aren't so weak anymore. The Marlins have quite an offense now, he'll have to go up against Pujols, even the mets have a decent offense in theory. He could win 20 games just for having the philly offense backing him up, but his ERA and WHIP could rise a bit.

5. yeah
if they had kept both, you could just about start designing their 2010 National League Champion T-Shirts. Now it's just trading 6 for a half dozen of another instead of getting the full 12.

10. Agreed, I'm surprised to hear anyone say that Halladay will be a bust.
Me, I'm going with him to win the Cy Young.

13. Lets make that 3 votes for Halladay winning the Cy Young
If he stays healthy and we hit and Hamels comes back, I don't even want to say any more.

16. Agreed...
In the last 3 years, Halladay went 15-9 vs the Yankees and Red Sox, with 10 complete games in 28 starts. The guy's a horse who pitches his best against the best teams.

As someone who's had the pleasure of watching him closely over his 11 years with the Jays, I predict he's going to eat NL batters for lunch.

6. Well, I'm Shockingly Gonna Agree With Upton
If Lincecum doesn't suffer an injury, he's gonna win a 3rd in a row.

If that guy gets smarter as pitcher (and he will, because he's still so young), look out.

His stuff is electric, he has command, he has control, and he's cool under pressure.

This kid could be great for years.

11. If he's still rockin' the ganj it might be Timmy
Just don't invite him to the all-star game unless you want the AL to win again.

But in my heart I gotta go with Clayton Kershaw.

12. The Dodgers* could have had Lincecum..
Edited on Thu Feb-11-10 10:32 AM by Upton
I think I've mentioned this before, nevertheless I'm sure you want to hear it again..In the 2006 MLB draft, the Dodgers skipped over Lincecum and took Kershaw instead. Lets see how they compare in their careers so far:

Kershaw..13-13 3.36

Lincecum..40-17 2.90 plus two Cy Young Awards

Oops! Looks like LA made a major mistake. Can you imagine what the Dodgers* could have done with Tim in their rotation?

What a shame..

17. It's too bad they couldn't have taken both
But at that time there was nothing wrong with taking Kershaw. The Dodgers have great scouts. Kershaw may never rise to Timmy's level but he is still a solid pitcher. He had a great year last year and will only get better. I wouldn't put all your eggs with Timmy....everyone thought Jason Schmidt would be a super star and look what happened. Injuries don't discriminate. Just sayin'.
