Maybe it can be like short track skating. Let's have 1 kilometer ski cross, then 2 kilometer, and so forth.

I don't mind these events as long as they're relegated to secondary channels. But when the main feed is catering to the X Games mindset it severely dampers the Olympics. I've been watching the match play golf instead, and normally I'm glued to anything Olympics.

5. That sport is a monumental flop

No suspense and very little opportunity to weave and set up passes like snowboard cross. It was order established out of the gate, then ski in place 1-4 for the remainder of the race.

Only the Canadian guy managed to pass anyone -- twice -- and that was only one spot advanced in each of two races, before he wiped out at the end of the finals. If not for his drunk to contender story line, that allotted time would have been the biggest waste ever on an Olympic telecast.

And his status as legit contender screamed at the weakness of the field, an upstart sport with very few top athletes. Many of them were hanging on at the end of careers after switching from conventional skiing.

Ski cross deserves the boot like softball and baseball, but I doubt it will happen. The Olympic hierarchy increasingly loves the X Games-type garbage.

7. I have to agree with you on this one

SkiCross is a dumb sport. I love skiing and I like the Boardercross but the ski cross is just dumb.
