The NFL announced today the order of the Top 10 Most Valuable Draft Picks of All Time with some of the Top 10 in attendance at Radio City Music Hall, the home of the 2010 NFL Draft. Joe Montana, the 82nd pick of the 1979 Draft out of Notre Dame, is the Most Valuable Draft Pick of All Time. Jerry Rice, the 16th pick of the 1985 Draft out of Mississippi Valley State, is second, and Walter Payton, the 4th pick of the 1975 Draft from Jackson State, is third on the list.

Brett Favre is in the top 7? He was drafted by the Falcons early in the 2nd round, and then traded to the Packers for a mid-first round pick. The Falcons used that to pick Tony Smith, who played two years, had 329 yards rushing, and fumbled more frequently than he found the end zone. So how was Brett Favre a valuable draft pick?

The Cowboys picked him up in the 5th round in 1985, got two pro-bowls out of him in three-and-a-half seasons, before the blockbuster trade that enabled the Cowboys to get Emmitt Smith, Darren Woodson, Russell Maryland, et al.
